I’m 23 y/o female 5’4 133 pounds. I don’t workout, stay at home mom clean and cook. My goal weight is 117 I want to lose a pound and a half weekly and fp tells me to eat 1200 to do so. However I hear a lot of people say to eat at your bmr because if you eat less than your bmr your metabolism will slow down and you won’t lose at a steady pace anymore because it’ll think it’s starving. idk if I’m posting in right category but please if anyone can help me. I’m trying to reach my goal in December. Thanks!

Thanks for educating me on that. It makes sense, I’m at a healthy weight there’s no need to rush my weightloss. I even noticed when I eat 1200 calories I’m always stalling/plateauing. When I was eating more I wouldn’t stall really at all because I was going at a reasonable pace. Probably would’ve reached my goal weight already if I was more patient lol. Although I’d love to reach my goal December I’m going to increase my calories. However is it possible I can make it to lose a pound a week? Because I feel physically sick even eating 1500 calories (which is another reason why I decreased my Cals) I can’t imagine eating even more than that. My bmr says to eat 1404 cals should I just go for that?

The fact that your weight loss stalls when you eat 1200 calories isn't because your body stops burning fat or anything like that (a popular myth). But a deficit that is too aggressive stresses the body and a stressed body tends to hold onto more water weight (hence no movement on the scale). And when people undereat, they're more likely to feel tired and become less active (burn less calories).

As for getting physically sick eating 1500 calories, could you expand on that? Because that isn't a high number at all.

Physically sick as in I feel like throwing up especially the next morning. I stopped eating at 6 PM and sleep at 11 so there’s a huge gap between when I eat and sleep so that couldn’t be the reason. I also eat pretty healthy... I ate 1500 cals for like 2 months. Then decreased it to 1300 cals. Then went to 1200 and I feel good eating at 1200 but my body and the scale doesn’t so I think 1400-1500 would be a good. It’ll take time to adjust to it.

If you think it's your stomach, you might experiment with foods that have a higher caloric density (more calories for lower volume) for example nuts and other higher fat foods. I doubt your stomach is reacting to a certain amount of calories, but it might have something to do with the volume of the foods you eat.

Or it might not be a stomach issue.

Honestly, if I got nauseous every time I ate more than 1500 calories, I would be visiting a doctor, it doesn't sound normal.

^^ second this, because it ISN’T normal. And no, you don’t have enough weight to lose to try to lose 1 lb a week. You might not even lose .5 lb a week with so little to lose. You are going to have to be very accurate with tracking with so little to lose.

And did you select Activity Level of Sedentary or app calls Not Very Active - despite having kids and taking care of household?

That is making the deficit even bigger, be honest, be safe, be smart.
So good job if you will really follow the recommendation.
    You are Lightly-Active.

Oh - very doubtful you got to point of wanting to lose weight eating less than 1500 calories on average. I show your TDEE (daily burn) almost 1900.

If you are having trouble even stomaching 1500 logged calories - it tells me your logging for food is probably not very accurate, you are eating more than 1500 in reality.

That means it'll be difficult to lose decently with a small reasonable deficit.

Hey yall. It’s been 3 days now and I’ve been eating 1450 cals (pretty much 1500) and I’m feeling pretty good. My body reacted to it right away I dropped half a pound it kick started my weightloss again increasing my calories. It definitely makes sense to me why I was stalling and gaining.. I was eating under my bmr and it wasn’t healthy for me with the weight I’m at. I appreciate all of you guys’ comments. Last time I was eating 1500 I didn’t feel so good next morning but now I’m doing a lot better.. my food choices are more improved now. I weigh everything with a foodscale and always check the nutrition label so I know I’m eating those exact calories. It was probably just the foods I was eating!
