I dont know who your dietician is but a 500 cal a day diet is very dangerous. Your basically starving your body. I dont know how much weight you have to lose vut I would ask some questions because this sounds very dangerous0

I'm on a program similar to yours. It's 600 calories a day/protein and vegetables. I can eat anything I want as long as the calories do not exceed 200 per meal and low on sugar and carbs. I also get b6-b12 vitamins shots and HCG SHOT. I have lost 40 pounds since June 8, 2011. Still have 15 to go. You can add me if you want to mfp friends.0

Hmmm. How long does this last for? If more than a short while I'd be concerned. Not being a party pooper honestly, but I'd imagine you're going to start feeling drained, when I did a detox I didn't have any energy to exercise and slept a lot :-(0
-
Nope, its very safe. I consulted 2 of my primary physicians and have about 6 friends who went and have lost alot of weight and have great health life styles now.0
-
And you would have lost 15 pounds by eating 1200 calories a day too, I bet. But, congrats anyways!0

The calories are low but I suppose she gets a bunch of vitamins as suplements.0

I also agree. I'd be asking to see this person's credentials. That sounds like craziness. Sure, you'll lose the weight, but guaranteed that you will gain all of it back and then some as soon as you're done with the "diet". I do have a suggestion for some weight loss though, RUN away from this crazy person who is starving you!!!0

I am curious about the B12 shots. I have heard ppl talk about how great they are. I asked my doc what I can do to help with my energy, and she said nothing0
-
I feel great everyday! Especially, after injecting myself every morning with the B12 shot.... and im always full after eating. Protein and veggies!0
-
Don't agree with the concept of eating too low with supplemental injections and hcg is ****0
-
Nah B12 shot gives u great energy, but if theres not a dietician around u that can give them to u to take while at home ect, i wud strongly advise the actual B12 vitamins!0

You may have friends that have had great luck with this "diet" but how long has it been since they've lost that weight? Is this "plan" sustainable? How do you maintain your weight loss?
It sure sounds too good to be true to me....0 -
Unless you plan on only eating 500 calories a day long term (aka forever) the weight loss wont last. Even if you only plan to use this diet to loose weight fast and then plan on eating a healthy diet once you reach your goal weight, it still wont work. Your metabolism has probably slowed so much that when you start to eat a healthy amount of calories again your body will pack on fat because your metabolism will be in starvation mode. Also, make sure you are taking a multi-vitamin.0

Well in my area, The group of Physicians i go to in NY, One of them is called Dr. Craig Title, You can google him and u'll see the creds etc. Also, my sister in CA, is on the same diet and set the same things. Like the shot. amino acid pills and also a strong dosage multivitamin. Also we have to take vitamin c and a calcium vitamin each day.0

um HOW does this train you to eat healthy meals in moderate portions & exercise regularly? This isn't about HEALTH, it's about being thin - regardless of the cost to your health.
I've heard of ppl who lose their hair & have had organ failure on this diet - HOW is that healthy!?
and are you learning healthy eating habits? what foods are nutritious? Do you strength train for your bones & muscles!?
POW's get this same spa treatment and don't have to pay for it0 -
Nope! If u google the diet you u read that it actually speeds up ur metabolism. And also after the diet, you can continue to eat healthy and take own over the counter vitamins and still keep the weight off. I have a hand ful of friends who after years still the weight is off.0
-
Yes, exercise daily at least 40 minutes each day. And also is a meal plan guide we are given to help us, almost like a point system, 20 points a day similar to weight watchers....etc.0

Lets see... lol i'ma send a freind request0

I've done the vitamin B6 and B12 injections, with a very strict diet to follow. I didn't follow the diet as strict as they wanted because I didn't have enough energy to exercise, and I wanted to do strength training to make sure I didn't have excess skin when I lost weight. I wanted to tone up while losing the weight. I did lose a good amount of weight over a 6 month period, but as soon as I stopped getting the injections I put the weight back on and even more. I've thought about doing the shots again because it was great to lose the weight as quickly as you do, but you have to make sure you follow the strict eating afterwards, otherwise you will put the weight back on.
Good luck to you!0 -
Please tell me this is a joke??0

If it's working go for it. Stay under your doctors care, all I know it is not for long term, so call it a jump start. sounds like HCG0

You can google a lot of things, doesn't make what is said to be true. Remember, these people are SELLING you this program therefore it's in their best interest to make it sound like you'll lose half your body weight and be super healthy and happy and everything is going to be honkey dorey but it's simply not true. I'm SHOCKED that your dr has recommended this "diet" that you're on. I think you need to check out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gY9LLMTCjwg - the BBC documentary called Super Skinny Me. Very scary but the scariest part is that the women are eating MORE than what is being "prescribed" to you. Anorexics eat about 500 cals a day. What you are doing is VERY dangerous. Please stop starving yourself.0 -
ACTUAL EXPERIENCE:
my sister was on a doctor supervised diet like yours, 500 calories, protein and veggies, supplements...She lost 80 pounds in a year along with her hair and seriously compromised her health. The following year, on the doctor supervised maintenance diet, she gained 160 pounds. However her health and hair did not return.0 -
Hi and Welcome to this site. I hope you find great success. I see by your profile that you have had some very serious health scares. I imagine that the reason a dr would allow such low caloric intake is because of that and a need to lose some weight quick. I would imagine that those calories will be upped soon? Anyhow, I wish you health and good luck!:flowerforyou:0

YOur diet sounds almost like mine. I also take a ton of vitamins, potassium and glucose to stay healthly. The vitamins b-6 and b-12 are sold at any pharmacy in the regular isle of vitamins. The only difference is that taking it by pills, your body only absorbs 20% of it and by inyections you get 100% of it.0

Not really sure why everyone is so negative about the HCG diet? I approved it with my doctor and it works great! I was able to do the 500 calories a day and I was always full and had a ton of energy. The first three days were the hardest but it was all in my mind. I worked out 3 days a week and stuck to the plan. I lost over 45lbs. I fully support anyone who really wants to do this diet and stick to it. I find that when reading these hcg threads theres a lot of people who think their doctors but aren't. Like someone said above, you can find anything on google. Good and bad, that's why i went to a doctor. Don't be so negative about something you haven't tried. You can maintain your weight loss if you continue to workout and each healthy, even after you increase your calories. Good luck to anyone who decides to think for themselves, don't let peer pressure avert you from your goal.0

Well i use B-12 vitamins and my doctor says they are just as good as the shots. Next time i go for a visit i will ask about the HCG diet. Everything is not for everybody. Take it or leave is how i look at it.0

Last year, I went to a bariatrician for weight loss. They put me on an almost identical diet but two meals a day were 100 calorie protein shakes the rest was protein and veggies to total 600 cal/day. When I started it, I weighed around 450 lbs. I got the B-12 shots 3 days a week, the doctor marketed his own oral supplement and they added a diet pill (amphetamine based) after the first month. I did the diet for 2 and a half months and lost 130 pounds. It got to the point where I could tell I wasn't healthy. My nails were cracking. My hair started falling out. I was okay with that, but then it got to a point where the thought of another piece of baked chicken made me want to yack.
As soon as I stopped it, I gained all the weight back very quickly and it brought back 35 more pounds with it..
So, I won't lie and say it doesn't work. And doctors use these regimens all the time. They certainly got a lot of my money to make me feel like crap. I say beware of any doctor or healthcare provider that markets their own supplements or fills their own prescriptions in the office. Lesson learned for me... there is no quick fix. I didn't gain this much in three months and it's not gonna all come off in 3 months! Just listen to your body and if it starts to say something is wrong.... listen to it!!0 -
I have around 100 pounds to lose. Can you add me as a diet friend?0
