Tough Mudder

Hey everyone!

Hope everyone is meeting their goals!!

I'm signed up for the Tough Mudder in College Station next year and I am a bit behind in my training due to illness. -_-

I am 35 years old and currently weight 240lbs. My goal weight for the run is 200 but I know that isnt really realistic at this point.

My goal now is just to be as fit as possible for the run.

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to how to achieve this.

Right now I'm thinking the good old low carb diet with lots of cardio and heavy weights with low reps.

Any advice and/or encouragement would be welcome! Thanks!!!

Is their a training plan of sorts for these runs? It might be good to break things down to smaller chunks. If tough Mudder doesn’t have one, I know the spartan race website has some free ones.

I may or may not be pondering a spartan race in May....

Upper body strength is key. You don't have to run the entire course. A lot of people walk. But upper body strength should be your priority.

Find a gym or playground with monkey bars and work on those.

I'm with @Sharon_C! I haven't done a Tough Mudder race, but I've done other Terrain Races and upper body was HUGE. I mostly did a light job in between obstacles.
