Anyone with Meniere's?

I've recently been diagnosed with Meniere's and am just wondering if there's anyone else in the MFP community who has it?
How long have you had it? How are you managing it (if you've got it managed)? If you do have it managed, what are you doing to do so?

Mine is in my left ear. I've had the coming/going tinnitus for years (about 8) and up until about a month ago I hadn't had a vertigo attack in about 5 years. I've now had 4 drop attacks in the last month and constant little bouts of the spins for over a week now. I'm watching my sodium, have totally cut out caffeine, and am now on a diuretic. Patiently waiting for relief.

Would love to hear from others.

My friend has it... and she said since she has cut out almost all salt she feels 10x better and hasn't had any dizzy spells since. This has been about a month now. She just got diagnosed with it about 1 month and a half ago. She cut out most of the pop she drank (which used to be a TON) and has since just drank water with crystal light.

So sorry, I know how hard it can be. My Husband has it. He has no hearing in his right ear and has a ringing in it all the time. The attack he had was his 2nd in three years. The one last Oct. brought the hearing loss on and the Dr. said to give it a year and it might come back. He wears an earplug in that ear to help block out noise which really aggravates the ringing. He has adjusted to being a little off balance. I sometimes if he uses the dizzyness to keep from doing a few honeydos around the house. It doesn't keep him from going to ballgames with his Dad! Anyway, all kidding aside, this happened while we were on vacation, and he could not eat or enjoy a thing! Hope you feel better and please keep me in mind if you find anything that helps.

I didn't think I would get a lot of responses on here so thank you both for responding. My husband works out of town during the week so is only home on weekends. He has not seen me go through a vertigo attack yet. But I've been telling him all about them so he's prepared for when it does happen.
  • Hello! Meniere's is a strange beast! I've had it for three years now. I haven't had a full blown attack in a while, thank goodness. Mine is in my left ear as well. I've found that weight loss has helped everything too.

    Peace!

I also have been diagnosed with meniere's disease.
A low salt diet is helping... My doctor said to try to stay under 1500mg per day .. also started running which is a great stress reducer as stress makes the symptoms worse too.
    Hope you are better.

i haven't been diagnosed, but i have it. It runs in my family and I have had both the dizzy spells and god help me I had no idea it caused tinnitus and deafness, but i have gotten that too (left ear).

I never had a spell until after my son was born. I can feel them coming on sometimes, but mostly i follow my sister's advice to take vitamins regularly (i think she said to make sure you get calcium, magnesium, and zinc)...

It doesn't really affect my life much....but when I do have a dizzy spell it can be intense. And the hearing loss annoys my boyfriend and my son both :)
