When should i stop logging my weight ??

Hi All

I need some advice on whether I should stop logging my weight into MFP.

I have been on MFP for nearly 4 months and a month ago I hit my target weight of 9st (126lbs) - so at 5ft,7lbs i think that is quite light and I am so happy..

I have been maintaining this weight well and have dropped my weigh ins from weekly to fortnightly. I also continue to log my food on a daily basis.

So my question is about logging WEIGHT. This morning was my 2 week weigh in and I have dropped again to 8,12 (124lbs).

I never in a million years thought I could lose more weight.. and not sure I even want to lose anymore as looking quite boney under my clothes (apart from my disgusting fat belly pouch that is still getting me down but I'm working on that with sit ups) !!!

Now my question is - Do I just leave my weight logged where it is now at 9stone, or do I log it as 8,12. I'm worried that if this morning i was just having a 'light day' and log it and then next week i go back to 9stone it will upset me and look like I have PUT WEIGHT ON where as I havent really.

Does this make sense ?

  • The logging of your weight is for your discretion. I don't believe there are "rules" here that says you HAVE to do anything. If you don't want to log your weight, you don't have to. It's up to you!

And CONGRATULATIONS!!! You DID IT!!!! :drinker:

First of all, WAY TO GO! As for me, I haven't weighed myself in 2 months. I know I'm doing well by the way my clothes fit, but I haven't stepped on a scale in a while. I was thinking that I might do it on Monday. Hmmm.....

When I worked at Weight Watchers, we only weighed folks once a week. I know that some people feel the need to weigh every day so they stay on top of any weight gain. As sodium, fiber, water retention, and exercise play a huge part in what the scale says, I would say to weigh yourself maybe once a week at the same time, wearing the same clothing.

Once again, WAY TO GO!!!

My thoughts. You have your ups and you have your downs. I would log it BECAUSE you want to know (?) what caused you to lose the weight, so you can better maintain for the long haul. If the next fortnight you creep up a pound and you're back at goal, that means you potentially ate more (or had other factors). If then the next fortnight you gain AGAIN, there is a reason to go back in your log and see what changed.

Summary: If you don't log now, you won't know the time and what factors may have caused you to gain.

I.m going to carry on, as I don't want to lose a lot more either. I works both ways! Also, I use MFP for the content of my meals, not just the calories.
