I just had a baby 5 weeks ago and i am ready to exercise. I have never really been into exercising. I get bored and make excuses not to go! I am getting married june 2012 and i want to look good. i dont mind being chunky but i want to lose 50lbs and at least looked toned. I lost 17lbs after having my baby and i think that gave me motivation to loose more. My question is ho do you keep going when your life gets so crazy!

I keep going because seeing the numbers (scale and clothes) go down feels so much better then when I ate like crap and got bigger. Also there are ways to make eating healthy easy. Im a working full time single mom (no dad no child support) and I have more energy consciously eating healthy then I did eating the fast and easy crap. I fall of the bandwagon with excercise regularly but make a point to do 15-30 min a day, and as you lose doing things gets easier and more fun. Finding new walking or hiking trails is great. If you dont have a good stroller get one! But treat it like you didnt have the money (I really didnt lol) and make it pay for itself by USING IT as much as possible! When you have a $200+ purchase looming over your head its a good motivator to use it

Hi Jenna, when your life gets crazy is exactly when you need to keep going. Nothing does a body more harm than eating on the run, stressing out and eating fast foods. You have to make a commitment to yourself and to your loved ones that you want to be here for a long, long time. That should help you stay committed to your goals.
  • I try keeping a calendar so I that I can "schedule" in a time where I'm going to do some physical activity for myself. I find this time best right after a days work before I go home to dinner. It keeps me eating healthy all day because I want to be able to complete the workout, and it keeps me eating healthy after because I don't want to ruin the work I did.

Try scheduling in a simple 10-15 minutes for a walk with 5 lb weights. Do 50 situps after. Slowly move it up to 20 minutes for a run/walk with 100 situps and 15 pushups. and keep working your way to a more intense workout. I also find that if I have NO motivation to workout that "CLEANING" can help keep my mind busy, heart racing, and mind off of food because I'm working to get the house organized. Plus did you know cleaning your house counts as a workout?

I just took up the hula hoop ... it is hard (for me anyway being a bit uncoordinated) but I can feel the workout in my muscles. There are tons of free videos on how to do it online and even how to make one from stuff you can buy at Lowes or your local home improvement store. It burns approximately 100 calories for ten minutes and one trainer recommends just doing it during commercials when you are watching tv ... there are 22 minutes of commercials in one hour of tv and you are just doing 2 to 3 minutes intervals

To be the best mom you can be...working out is something you need to do. You will feel so much better about yourself. Start now..my babies are 11 and 7. I let my self go, I was so into being a mom...I forgot to be me. Your husband to be will love you no matter what size you are..but you will love yourself so much more after you learn to love your body and finding a time to work out even if it's 4 or 5 in the am (only time I can get it in) is so worth it!!! Everytime my crazy life gets in the way I'm thankful I got up at 4;40am and got it done. You are worth it.
