Food suggestions: Get together with 25 people I do not know

I'm going to a party tonight with 25 women I've never met before. The hostess is having mini sandwiches of various kinds. That's all the info I have. She asked me to bring a side, not a desert.

Suggestions? I'd like to get all fancy and fun, yet in keeping with mini-sandwich casual. I can cook well, so I'm game for anything. It doesn't need to be "diet" friendly.

I'm rather excited to meet some new people...

Ideas?

I made some hamburger sliders in hawaiian rolls and people loved them.

Oh I forgot, I made "special sauce" too. (from movie Step Brothers) just ketchup and mayo mixed.
Then had a little tray of cheese, pickles, onions, and lettuce if they wanted to slap that on.

Check out the Pioneer Woman website. Her cooking blog is FULL of great recipes - none of which are diet friendly, but they are all crowd pleasers for sure.

Make mini quiches or mac and cheese cups (Filo dough layered in a muffin tin with mack and cheese inside it.) Jello is fun but she might see it as a dessert.

You could make home-made tortilla chips and a 7-layer dip, that always goes over well :)

Sometimes for parties I take the scoops tortilla chips and set them up on a sheet pan. Then cook ground beef and onions seasoned with taco seasoning. Fill the scoops with the meat, top with whatever cheese you like and bake in the oven until the cheese melts. Top with sour cream and a black olive. They are easy, tasty and kind of pretty too. I always put the sour cream on with a cake decorating tip.

I would make caprese skewers if I was tasked with this.

Cherry tomatoes, basil, mozzarella - all on a skewer and drizzled with balsamic vinegar.

It's SUPER simple, healthy, delicious, and looks gorgeous.

And even though you are not necessarily looking for healthy - I just love how everyone always oohs and aahs over it. I think just because it's colorful. (Google images for caprese skewers.)

My tip is to serve the balsamic in a ramikin to dip the skewers into. The mozzarella doesn't look as nice when it has the balsamic on it.

    Broccoli Salad
2 crowns of broccoli cut into bite-sized pieces
    1 cup shredded cheese
1 package of the bacon pieces (or 1/2 jar bacon bits)
1 small bag of sunflower kennels

    Sauce
    1/2 cup Light Miracle Whip
    1 tablespoon vinegar
    1 tablespoon sugar

Mix sauce and toss with dry ingredients. I don't like a lot of sauce on my salad so if you want more, double the ingredients. Less than 60 cal per serving!

    Or fresh guacamole:
    3 ripe (soft) avocados
    1 pressed garlic clove
2 tablespoons lemon juice (to keep it from browning so fast)
    dash of seasoning salt

Mash avocados fork and mix together. Around 30 cal per serving. Serve with your fav tortilla chips.
