Is it dangerous to go below 1200 calories.

That depends on your age, height and weight.
If your baseline to maintain weight is 1400 (One of my friends is 5.1 and that's her baseline), then 1000 to 1200 would be normal if she was trying to lose weight.
The one thing you need to understand is sustainability.
There's no point in losing weight and sacrificing your health.
Undercutting your calories by a lot, without taking proper precautions to maintain your micro-nutrition at proper levels leads to bigger issues, especially on the hormonal side of things.1 -
