Scale not on an even, flat surface, water retention, hormonal variations unrelated to the food poisoning, lots of reason. Whatever it is, it's fluid fluctuation, not fat fluctuation, thus don't worry about it and get better soon.5

Dehydration/water retention. You likely didn't "gain" 4Lbs of fat in 2 days whilst sick. Drink fluids and wait it out.3

If you have diarrhea the excess water in your intestines can cause temporary weight gain.2

Yeah, some kind of water weight effect kicked up by the food poisoning. Just go forward eating sensibly and getting adequate hydration, and I'm betting the extra weight will drop off within a few days to a week or so. Until it hangs around longer than 2 weeks, not worth worrying about. Bodies are weird.4

I gain at least 2 lbs between 8am to noon every day. It’s normal for weight to fluctuate, especially when sick.1

That happened to me once and I freaked out. I had barely eaten or drank anything for 3 days and gained a lb. I didn’t know much about water weight fluctuations then. It still doesn’t make sense.1
