Having problems getting past 180

It just seems that I'm yo-yoing all the time. I can lose down to 182, but it was so hard in the first place that I end up relapsing and going back to eating more. I am feeling like losing weight is so futile anymore, like maybe there is something medically wrong with me? If I am active (not working out but walking a fair amount) and am eating moderately and still not losing, what else can I do?
Maybe I'm just trying to lay the blame somewhere else but I really feel something has got to change! I would love to be a 8 or 10 in jeans again. They weren't kidding when they said losing weight after pregnancy is HARD.

There's not something "medically wrong" with you. You said you eat too much. Stop doing that. It's just a matter of willpower. If I can do it, you can do it. Therefore, you can dooo eeeet!0

I'm not eating like 2500 cals a day or anything, I'm eating moderately, like 1600-1800 and it's not doing it is all. I feel like if I were doing the same thing before I was pregnant I would have lost a lot more. C'est la vie haha.0

Yeah it sounds like bodies change drastically, permanently, after pregnancy.
Using the rule of 10s though, (multiply your weight by 10 to get the number of calories you should consume to maintain that weight), 1800 is enough to maintain a weight of 180. You need a bigger deficit. Eat less.
It's not the most fun thing ever but it works.0 -
Just my two cents worth here, do with it what you choose...
I couldn't get under 160, was bouncing around at 165-162. I had been working hard at losing for month, and just felt like my body and my mind needed a break.
So I took, I put myself into maintenance mode, and tried to relearn how to live.
Funny thing, I actually lost those last couple pounds, and dropped to 160 on my own.
A couple weeks back, I decided it was time to go after the last fifteen or so pounds, and so far I have easily dropped five pounds simply by eating a little less and bumping up my exercise.
Personally I think my body and metabolism need a chance to reset. To trust that I wasn't starving it indefinitely, and that there was a normal state.0 -
Your body gets used to the same exercise and it doesn't work as well after a while. If all you're doing is walking, you need to change it up and add something different to kick-start your body again.
And you might want to work on changing your mind-body connection too. Try meditating. I know it sounds cheesy, but talk to your body and agree to work together rather than fighting one another. It's amazing what you can do when you're at peace and when you open your heart and mind. ) Namaste.0 -
at 182 it was my goal to stay under 1440 calories.. BUT --- I'd work my tush off at the gym burn a crap load of calories and eat 1/2 of them back.. so I would end up eating anywhere from 1500 to 1900 and successfully lost 1.5 - 2 lbs a week by doing so.
That's what worked for me. :flowerforyou:0 -
I think the most important thing is to just keep going. Keep trying! If you look for solutions, you'll eventually find them. Just don't give up.0

Thanks guys. I realize what I am doing in absolutely NOT working for me. I'm really looking at stating the Couch to 5k program, I've never run a step in my life but I need to do something different. I just need to get a jogging stroller and some shoes it seems. I think another issue I've been having is eating healthy vs. money. It is so much more expensive to buy healthy food! Holy crud! Since my hubby and I are trying to get out of debt we've really been cutting back on the grocery bill, and I feel like we've bought more junk food as a result.
Either way I'm going to start tracking again and look into running.0 -

On line is a diet written by a DR called Active-Passive Diet When I read it it felt like he wrote the book for me. I liked it so much that I printed it out and put the pages in pastic sleeve and placed them in a binder. My Mother-in- Lawvisited and she read the 7 chapter book and felt the same way I did. Give it a try read it all the way through because what he says at first could be discouraging if you dont read the whole chapter. They are short chapters, very eye opening.0 -

Buy one get one free comes at a huge price! Bigger everything. Just do your best frozen is just as good as fresh if not better and canned veggies can be rinsed, to reduce the sodium, rinse untill no more bubbles. Fatty ground beef can be fried untill almost done then place meat in a stainer in the sink and pour boiling water over the meat to rinse away the fat. Put meat back into the frying pan and seasond and cook until done. Just making these changes will help with losing weight and better health.0 -

I just have to ask...in what case is a frozen vegetable better than a fresh one? :huh:0 -
This article touches on some situations in which frozen *might* be better:

Fresh food is picked and frozen after just a few hours after being picked, fresh is picked and trucked to the store and sits around untill we purchase it the longer it sits the more vitamins are lost.0
