Restarting MFP

Good morning everyone! I hope you all are doing well! I am once again restarting my journey to lose the last 100lbs in my journey! I have failed my way from 343lbs in 2018 to 284lbs currently! I was down to 272 until covid hit and I stopped tracking!!! I am new to this community thing so I have no idea how any of this works but am going to learn so I can have more accountability for myself! A little about me, I am happily married (19yr anniversary coming up in February) and have two kids along with 2 cats and 2 German Shepards! I work full time for a great cancer hospital but sitting all day doesn’t help my journey!!! I was diagnosed with a gluten intolerance last year and am still learning foods that are safe and always looking for ideas!! Please feel free to help/provide tips and tricks that may help me be successful like never before!!

Happy Wednesday and I hope you all have a great day! 😁

It's like you have two of everything, including almost two decades of marriage.

You're blessed and we're blessed to see you here in the MFP forums!

When you say you "failed your way" with your weight loss, can you expand on what you mean? And which strategies helped you most with your health improvements in the past?

    Welcome, Lisa! Glad you're here!

What are your current plans to reach your goal?

I'd advocate not changing everything, all at once. Make small sustainable changes. Can you take a small walk around the building on your breaks, or cut one caloric drink out of your day? Commit to doing that. Once that feels fully integrated into your normal day, make another small change. Rinse and repeat.

And I was married on 2/22/02... I guess my lucky number is 2!! 🤣 I have tried keto, south beach, WW (multiple times), spark people, working with a personal trainer, meeting with a dietician, even MFP several times, and last but not least “intuitive eating”... I would start and stop every journey, every program... I could not commit to any of it except for a short period of time. Until 2018 when we were hit pretty hard as a family. My husband was injured at work and ending up having surgery on his spine in two places. We lost his income and I had to leave me job (45mins from home) to a job 8mina to home (with a $12k a year decrease) so I could be closer to home for him and the kids. I took that leap not knowing where our world was going but also knowing I needed to lose weight and get healthy to be able to help him recover and take care of our kids. I immediately canceled any memberships I had as we could no longer afford any of it and just started paying attention to what I was cooking and portions I was eating and times of day I was eating. Fast forward to 2020 and my husband is still out of work and just had his 3rd spinal surgery in July. It has been a struggle and I have failed several times. But once I started focusing on counting my calories along with my portions and just started committing to moving my body 45 mins a day I have found the most success. We still have it rough but I will continue to work hard and focus to reach my goal and be able to care for my family the best I can. I may have failed a lot of times and stopped and started sue to life events and somehow lost weight, but not this year! This year will be different! This year I am taking control back and not letting situations control me!

    🙏🏻💪🏻❤️

Thank you so much! My first baby steps for January are simple...

    1) 1650 cals a day (given to me by my dietician)
    2) move my body 45 mins a day
    3) drink 1gal of water a day

I took myself off soda years ago. I am a pretty simple person so it’s my coffee in the morning, water 90% of the day and a lyte body armor drink with lunch. I make myself get up from my desk every hour for a small stroll otherwise my apple watch yells at me hahaha. I take the stairs instead of the elevator as well since I am on the second floor at work. Small little things I have changed over the last year.

I will need to come up with more goals for February so I will definitely use your feedback and see what else small I can do. Thank you!

Sounds like a nice, simple plan! I like it!
