I'm doing phase 1 of South Beach to try to kick start my weight loss (and because it makes sense to me, the science behind it) and I'm still using mfp to make sure I stay within my calorie range. Well, I'm having trouble even getting 1200 calories in me every day since I started this on Tuesday. Anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions?

I was on the south beach diet before and like mfp it teaches you moderation and proportions. Also to cook more at home as they have great recipes. One I use constantly is the olive oil mixture with mixed vegetables roasted. This always goes over well for dinner parties. It's a great diet and drink lots of water on it as they suggest. You'll be able to slowly introduce carbs after the 1st tough two weeks and your going to feel great with the better food choices this diet gives you. congratulations and I think this will fit well with mfp diary. Also with this diet it took me a bit before I started noticing changes but when they come they are quite noticeable. :)
Oh and eat more veggies to boost up your calories or try a tsp of olive oil.

make sure you are eating nuts, and hard boiled eggs and avocado's for snacks, this was the only way I could get my calories up without breaking the rules of phase I

I really wish I could get my butt in gear and actually do it the right way. I agree with the science behind it, too. I just do not have the time right now. <sigh>

I totally know what you mean. I just turned 29 on Saturday so that's why I put my foot down with myself. I want to be healthy by the time I hit 30!

Thanks folks for the suggestions folks, I will definitely try some of those and I look forward to going through that website!

Also, adding beans to your daily food intake will help, both with getting enough calories, and to keep your blood sugar levels more even AND to help keep...um....digestive issues moving efficiently! Sometimes people on Phase 1 lean a bit heavily on cheese for tasty protein, and that can clog up the works, shall we say. A 1/3-1/2 cup serving of beans (great northern, pinto, red, black, etc.) can really help avoid that.
