Today I learned that I burn more calories than I thought. I thought that when I did chest, ab ripper x full that I burned only 100 cals. I have found out that I burned over 400 cals. I have found out that I have been starving my body because my metabulism is about 3100 cals work and 2700 cals on days off.. I have been feeding it only 1800-2100 cals depending on my work out. I have been starving my body by 1000+ cals a day.

Now what to do with that information.

Any suggestions on gaining more muscle and greater endurance. What do I eat and why would it benifit me.

Normally you see people wanting to lose weight, however, gaining muscle works on the same principle as losing............ just in the opposite direction. If you want to put on mass, you need to eat about 500cals per day above maintenance and lift weights. I recommend Rippetoe's starting strength program.

My BodyBugg has been a valueable tool for balancing my intake/training. I started using it Sept 2010. Have dropped 4 sizes since then but at the same time built a respectable amount of muscle.

My secrets: Getting enough Vitamin D3. Coconut oil consumption seems to shift me into piling on lean mass. Bacon from pastured pigs! If you can tolerate dairy - heavy whipping cream from grass fed cows.

Kettlebells help many of us. :)

Beware not getting enough rest or fun. Avoid too much cardio.

[Edit - avatar is my before pic, Sept. 2006. Profile has more current photos - June 2011. New shots coming this weekend to celebrate dropping yet another pant size. :)]
