I have lost my focus on weight loss. It has always been difficult for me to eat healthy and I have lost sight of my goals. How do you stay focused?

The more I read about how good nutrition makes all the difference in good health, even aside from weight loss, the more motivated I am to look for healthy choices. Also friends on here who are eatting the same way is great support. So, in a nutshell: knowledge and friends.0

what are your goals?? goals can change over time, but they need to remain the same at the core. write something on your profile to motivate yourself.
personally, i signed up for some races to help me keep motivated and with a goal ahead of me.
good luck, stay positive.0 -
I put fitness as my objective. Weightloss is one measure, so is attaining a healthy blood pressure, a healthy cholesterol level, a satisfying energy level, mental and emotional equilibrium. So as much as possible, when I eat I try to remember that food is a tool to attain my objective. I aim to use the most efficient tool possible. Moving away from weightloss as the primary objective has allowed me to become much more fit as a whole person and I have multi-measures to substantiate that statement.0

I've never have understood where the 'willpower' comes from! One day, I just wake up and have made my mind up to go for it. This time around I visited with a nutritionist at my doctor's office to get a kick start. It really helped. In my session with her, I recalled a lot of what I'd done before that helped me succeed as we discussed different ideas and she told me about MFP which was the best thing that could have happened. I'm taking it slowly, set my calories and exercise at something achievable, with just 1/2 pound loss per week, but since the weight crept on, in my opinion it should creep back off. I let myself have little indulgences, and if I screw up too much, after I moan about it a bit, I get right back on. Your MFPs will help you along the way. Good luck to you! :bigsmile:0

I changed my goal of 38# to 1#/week. It didn't seem so overwhelming and far away. I am down to under 10# to go, and it's getting harder, but I don't I won't give up. Every once in a while I put on my 'fat jeans' to remind myself why I am doing this.0

I focus on what I can do and feel like compared with 'yesterday' and what I will be like tomorrow.
For example:
* I have lost the weight I wanted to
* I can run a 5K
* I feel good getting into my old clothes and need to even get some smaller ones
* My daughter is happy I do not smoke anymore and it has been over a year now
My future goals are:
* I want to refine my body now by toning up.
* I will aim for a 10K.
I can look at my life and I can see I eat healthily now. It has made me a better cook and I am always looking for new recipes. It all adds up to a little more time in this universe with loved ones.
These are my focus points and yours will probably be completely different. You should make a list of your own and set your mind to them. Procrastination will not help.
Look in the mirror. Do you like what you see? If the answer is no then only you can change it.

Exercise requires willpower, but healthy eating requires planning.
Don't have crap in your fridge, don't buy it and you can't have it. When you go out keep some healthy snacks handy. I always have an alpen light bar and bottle of water with me in the car, even if I'm just going to the supermarket. Take a tub of mixed fresh fruits and yoguart (or fromage frais) for days when you know you'll be out the house and need food. Plan ahead so you don't have to go into a shop/bakery/etc and look for food. That's when you are likely to make a bad choice I believe.0 -
Every time i start to have "off" days or loose focus i read the success stories and look at pictures of users who have lost immense amounts of weight. Just looking at these pictures and reading how it has changed peoples lives, making them so much more confident and generally leading a more healthy lifestyle re-motivates me and gets me back on track.0

Hi, i know how you feel, people splurge on things and say have to eat right and pick up carrots and start munching, it isnt like that for everyone, me being the example, i was chips, sausages, hotdogs and coke for 5 years i put my weight on and decided hey im obese, i started walking, cut out most of that junk and lost 17 kilos, i have lost another 5ish and guess what......
I dont eat vegies, fruit, most meats, most things, most most most.....i have only the last few month digested water and im toning but not losing, its not because i am not eating vegies or the right things....its because my portions go up, then down then i stop exercising then i start and stop and start and it sh$$ts me!
When exercising, eating smaller portions to 300 cals a meal roughly, cut out highly fatty foods and cut down on my sugar, i should have a multivitamin, they are here but i just havnt. I am not healthy, but i am not unfit and sick....
It is what works for you, not what works for others, i know i have unfair disadvantage from the foods i eat, i cant help it, if i dont like the taste hell and high water wont make me eat it!
I am not the best person to take advice from, i stop and start all the time and my commitment slips when i dont see a change, but it is my lack of consistent exercise that stops my progress not my food. There isnt a thing i can change to make it better, i try new foods, thats all i can hope for is to find a new addition!
Good luck!0
