Not a noob, but starting again...

Well, back on the slopes. I plan (again) for this to be the last time.
I think my issue in the past has been wanting to "Stop" dieting when I get to a certain point. I now realize that I will always have to be on some kind of "Diet" or else I will balloon up again.
I am starting this trip about 10 pounds lighter than I was last time, but still with a BMI over 45. And have lost 16% of my fat loss goal in the last 2 weeks (since starting this round).
I know that this rate is unsustainable, but it looks good on paper. I am expecting the rate to settle down to 1% of my weight/week before too long.
My goal is to no longer be "Obese" (BMI under 30) for my physical next year. This year, that would be out of the question, but maybe make it down to merely "Class 1 Obese" (BMI under 35).
So far, I have noticed the following benefits:
  • Insulin use is 60% of what it was before starting.
  • Blood glucose levels are where they should be in the mornings.
  • As long as I don't start eating sugary things, I have no cravings for them.
  • I can survive hunger pangs. It's not gonna kill me if I go to bed without a snack.
These double shifts are difficult though.

    This is great.

I saw your post on the Introduce Yourself forum; these look like good health-related goals. I hope you find MFP is a great tool to help you get there.
