Feeling demotivated

I went for a body scan on Sunday and the scans looks so fatty and then on Monday someone contacted me on facebook dating .. we chatted and talked about meeting up, then they mentioned they were engaged .. so I told them I don’t think it’s appropriate to meet. These two things made me feel upset and lazy .. so I missed my 5 am CrossFit class this morning. I’m going to go workout at the regular gym and do what I can

It’s so hard when events around you get you down. But you have to refocus. Picture your goals, or a vacation in the distance. Look forward and put the past behind you. I hope today is much better for you!1

Words matter Sugar Plum! What we think, we become.
Chin up and find a silver lining - don't let the day to day get you down. Reward yourself for not meeting an engaged dude with a good, strong workout to empower yourself!1 -
Consistency will conquer. Whether motivated or not, if you're on a consistent regimen, you just do it because. I'm not super fond of getting up at 4:30am each morning to go out an do a walk/run for 90 minutes before I have to get to work, but I do it everyday (even days I don't work). I don't have to be motivated to do it, I just do it.
Yes there will be times you don't WANT to do it and if it's a day, cool. But don't linger on it. Problems don't change just because you quit working out. But you can use the work out to destress and it actually does good for your body and health. That's the thought to keep in your head.

Wow, did you ever dodge a bullet there.
If that doesn’t motivate you, nothing will.
Those body scans. Ay yi yi. I bounced into my first one, confident that after losing 60 pounds or so I was killin’ it. I came home and wept. I was 29.4%. I was hating on myself, criticizing myself for being a failure, not working hard enough. It was a pity party for about 24 hours. Then I looked in the mirror, thought “this is just *kitten* laughable. Look where I came from and look where I am now.”
I had my second Dexa a year later, convinced I’d be under 20. Nope. 21.9%. But this time instead of berating myself, I took the attitude that I was down 7.5 points. That’s nothing to sneeze at, and this time I was happy for the progress.
Body scans can be very scary emotionally, especially for those of us with body Dysmorphia and a (un)healthy bit of an OCD or self critical personality. I honestly don’t know if I’d do a third one. It was mostly curiousity, and to what purpose? At this age it’s not like I’ll never be a bikini model. Heck, I haven’t even worn a bikini in 42 years. It took every single ounce of courage I had to wear a crop top to a yoga class, feeling like my neon white belly was hanging out over my neon pink leggings with a giant dog saying Look At Mah Belly. You know what? No one even noticed. This *kitten* is all in OUR heads.6 -
Considering we are all about building habits that need to last a lifetime, it's not about never having one bad day. That's just not going to be posible. It's about making sure one bad day doesn't impact the next day and the next day. And that's where habit forming comes in, because motivation rarely exists 24x7x365.1

Going and working out is a good plan: Good for you, in both senses of the phrase.
The thing to do with these little discouragements is let them go, and get on with your goals and your life.
Letting them derail you is like heading out to your car to drive to work, discovering you have a flat, and puncturing the other 3 tires. It doesn't make sense!
Hang in there, and keep moving!3 -
I wonder how many times measuring body fat ends in a happy conversation? I bet...just about never. So, don't feel down...you're doing great getting in shape... and remember not all methods of measuring body fat is absolutely accurate. And..if it is.. it can always change for the better.
You have real guts to face the music. I applaud you!1
