Chronic pancreatitis and calories

I have been recently diagnosed with this and have not had a follow up appointment with my specialist. My information has come from the internet so far.

One issue with this seems to be that your body cannot break down food and absorb all nutrients. Would this also apply to calories? Weight loss appears to be a problem with chronic pancreatitis so I am trying to figure out how to adjust my food intake and exercise. I am within 10lbs of my goal weight, 5'6", 160lbs currently.

You need to go and see a Registered Dietitian. Ask your specialist if they have a dietitian as part of their team that you can see. If not, ask your GP to refer you to one or look for a private one. This website will be of use if you are UK based --> www.freelancedietitians.org
