Is there real food in Colorado Springs?

I am traveling to Colorado Springs and will be in a hotel room for a week. I have spent the last 90 minutes doing web searches to try to find someplace to eat while I am there. I MUST be gluten free (lifetime Celiac) and chose to do the "clean eating" thing. I have searched for natural, vegetarian, organic and gluten-free and come up with pizza places and Carl's Jr!

When I was in Minneapolis I was blessed to find a restaurant called "Good Earth" where I went for dinner almost ever night and did take out for lunch and managed to stay reasonably close to my calories on MFP. Doesn't look like I'll be that lucky in Colorado :( Any suggestions for a non-chain, good place to eat in Colorado Springs is greatly appreciated!

    Try Old Colorado City, just down from Colo. Springs near Garden of the Gods (the park, not the street). They have a cool downtown to walk about in, and lots of wiccans who are vegan, I'm going to say. Ha!

    I was going to suggest some FAB places until you listed all those requirements. Did you try Yelping places?

    I just got back from the beach, i took my cereal and almond milk
    (assuming motel room has small fridge) my snack things....I went to a grocery
    store and bought rotissier chicken and micro wave seamfresh veggies and
    friut, I did pretty good

    Go up to Manitou Springs near CS. Should be some places up there. There is a Gluten Free bakery near Manitou Springs.

    I lived in Colorado Springs for about 11 years, so my short and sarcastic answer would be no, there is no real food there. :laugh:

    There are two Whole Foods stores, but really no other local grocery stores. There really are no farmer's markets, organic restaurants, etc. So you may want to get your own food while you're there at Whole Foods (one on Academy Blvd. and the other on Powers)

    However, this is this little place near where I went to college called Trinity Brewing (http://www.trinitybrew.com/), and they serve lunch and dinner, with a lot of vegetarian and some vegan items. They have a really cool atmosphere there too, but it does get busy because, well, there aren't many places like it.

    There is also the Mediterranean Cafe downtown (http://www.medcafe-co.com/), which serves some good greek food, with many vegetarian and vegan options, as well as some gluten-free items.

    That's all I got... and that's really all there is.

    I am Celiac and live in Colorado Springs. All I can say is good luck. Now there are certain restaurants that I feel safe enough to eat at but they would definitely not be what you call clean eating.

    I recommend Arharn Thai off that list. Awesome, fresh Thai food. Other then that..... eeeeeee.

    If you have transportation there are Farmers Markets just about every day of the week somewhere in town.

    Why there? If you can go up to Denver instead (or some of the time), you'll have TONS more choices....

    Otherwise I second people saying to go Whole Foods and get something for the room, sadly that town is much less healthy than those of us in Denver and North of Denver (ie, Boulder, Fort Collins)...

    And also I second using Yelp to find places, they might help find a few if you post a message asking for help there...
