Calorie intake over a tad....just wondering if this is this

Just a quick question to anyone who may have an answer....i was wondering about a once a week rough day where you go over your reccommended calorie intake....will you still lose weight or will it just sabatoge the days ive stayed in my limit?? I dont want to do this every week....but i was just wondering for future reference when i do slip up and pig out...lol
i ate a whole medium thin crust mushroom pizza yesterday....but was still only over calorie limit by about 250....so in total instead of 1200 i ate about 1500 ish...is that so bad? Or is it ok once in a while?

Did you work out yesterday? Are you including your exercise calories?0

Not a big deal! You're still under your BMR, or what you would need to eat to maintain your weight, so you were still in a deficit. My BMR is about 1800, which is what I'd have to eat to maintain my weight each week.0

u ate a whole medium pizza by yourself?...if this is the case I think maybe its a bad move regardless of how many calories you have left...you need to fill those calories with balanced portions that provide the best nutrition....Like 1-2 slices of pizza...and a salad.....otherwise I would just consider eating a whole pizza binging...which may have setbacks..good luck0

it's not horrible. It's probably worse that you did it all in one sitting then the fact that you went over. Besides, what is your maintenance weight? If it's more then 1500 (I'll bet it is), then you aren't sabotaging anything, you just might not loose quite as much this week (I'm talking tiny amount here, like 1/16th of a pound)0

Rach, do you have a metabolic problem (like hypothyroidism or something?) cuz that's the only way your BMR would be what you need to eat to maintain.
BMR is 60% of maintenance calories
the other 40 is
25% from daily activity
and 15% from thermogenisys
These are averages of course, everyone's a little different, but you get the point.0 -
I go over every once in a while, Like this past weekend, I felt hungry all day, I let myself eat and Monday I has still lost weight. Hope this helps.0

There is a "built in" deficit, for me it's set at 750 calories. So if I go over 200 (including exercise calories) on this, I still have a 550 deficit for the day. You'll lose weight slower or just maintain weight, but one day won't hurt you.0

Yea I have hypothyroidism. That and I have a desk job, and then go home and sit at the computer and do homework all night so I have little to no movement throughout the day if I don't exercise. It might not be quite that low, but I just want to make the point that 1500 won't cause you to gain anything. :flowerforyou:0 -

I agree......I may go over in a day and will not pick something not so good for me to go over with...Oh well what is done is done. I used to eat 1 meal a day....900 - 1500 cals and stayed fat. Reason being not giving my body the nutirtion it needed throughout the day and the choice of food I was eating. I would say, try and stay away from pizza.

thanks for all your input!! And pizza is my biggest downfall....i live to eat pizza....lol Oh and i did not eat it all in one sitting.....about half at dinner and half for a snack......some snack huh? lol Thanks all!0

Well, I don't know what kind of pizza it was but I can tell you this.
There are healthy pizza alternatives that can drastically reduce the amount of calories you intake, while lowering the glycemic reprecussions as well.
For example, when the wife and I want a pizza we do one of 2 things.
1) we make a whole wheat pizza, we put on low calorie sauce, low moisture skim mozzarella, and some healthy veggies (and maybe a little turkey pepperoni), also good is white meat chicken breast on it.
if we aren't in the mood to make it:
2) there are plenty of pizza places out there that offer whole wheat flat bread pizza's. try to find one of them.
Whole wheat pizza is far better even if you do everything else the same. Whole wheat takes far longer to go through the body then enriched white flower, and doesn't spike blood sugar the same, making it a far better choice.
another thing to do is put what you want to eat on a separate plate, then immediately put the rest away. Wrap it up nice and tight and throw it in the fridge. If you do this, you are far less likely to grab that extra slice, if it's not sitting there staring you in the face, it's easier to avoid temptation.
