I need to find some easy to prepare and healthy foods. I go to school and work a lot so I don't have time to actually prepare any meals. Most of my meals are on the go, whick are usually quite unhealthy. Any suggestions?

I go to Uni early most mornings and found it quite difficult to think of quick meals to make for breakfast before uni and then healthy lunches while i was at uni. I worked out in the early days (about 3 weeks ago) that the cereal 'Just right' was an amazing breakfast at only 208 calories for 45g of cereal and 100ml of lite milk. I would also have a cup of tea (21 calories) then before i left for uni i would chop up half an apple and 2-3 strawberries and put them in a container and eat those for morning tea (72 cal). I'd also grab a can of 'tempters onion and tomato savoury sauce tuna' (101 cal) and 2 slices of helgas traditional wholemeal bread (190 cal) and put a few leaves of lettuce on the bread (4 cal). When it came to lunch time i'd get out my can of tuna and spoon it onto my sandwich (to prevent having a soggy sandwich) and eat it. Was extemely refreshing and tasted so good!!

Another thing i've recently discovered is crumpets are relatively low in calories too (83 cals each)! They taste amazing with vegemite or marmite which is also quite low on calories. And another lunch i have tried is pickled onion and cheese sandwiches! so good!! :D

And ofcourse don't forget, you can have some snacks like chocolate and chips, just limit yourself! I've been eating a piece of Lindt white choc truffles (2 pieces 71 cals!) and doritos chips (68 cals for 5 chips!) when i have exercise calories left. I'm loving MFP because i've begun 'eating smarter' and its paying off! Today i've been using the App for 21 days and i've lost 3.4kgs, and i feel fantastic! only 3.2kgs to go! woohoo!

    goodluck!

  • I pack a cooler everyday for a twelve to fouteen hour day...babybel light cheese, precooked turkey bacon packed in baggies, fiber one yogurt 50 calorie, brown rice cups(prepackaged at store..1minute in micro), boiled eggs peeled and bagged, turkey stix(like beef jerky stix) . I also premake green beans in 1/2 cup containers, cottage cheese, spinach, vinagrette, etc in 1/2 cup containers..I also pack all natural peanut butter in containers with a protein bar . Special K cracker chips sour cream and onion, sunflower kernels mixed with raisins and choc chips and of course the carrot and celery stix. I usually make this stuff at begginning of week and grab and go.. Invest in a very good insulated cooler lunch bag. I hope this helps:drinker:
  • I pack foods with fiber, fruit protein in a cooler for the day when not around the office.:smooched:
