Hello everyone!
I am totally new here, but I feel positive about the support this app can bring me.
I am in a weight loss journey where I have already lost at least 20 pounds in the past year. I think I weighed 175 pounds in March 2020, I am now at 150 pounds (let’s celebrate this succes!)
However, now I feel like I face the most challenging part of my journey. Losing the last 20-30 pounds or so. (Really, I don’t know what is my « comfortable » weight, as I have been overweight since childhood. What an exciting adventure to discover this unknown body of mine!)
I am quite active (running or doing TRX trainings everyday), and by combining this with reduced general calorie intake I have achieved the first part of my journey.
However, now I start tracking my meals (thanks to this app ). I know my eating habits are the key to get and maintain an overall healthy lifestyle.
Still living with my parents for my studies, I cannot totally chose (nor weight) what I eat, especially that my parents aren’t willing to diet at all. I don’t want to cook totally seperate meals, because it would create tension within the household, I believe (the joys of food are important in my family, which is why I guess everyone here is overweight )
However, I manage to reduce a part of the prepared meals (example: spaghetti) with a salad or steamed vegetables. This is a quite recent habit of mine (January 2021)
I am trying to build new lasting habits around this, but some days are harder than others!
How to make room for the treats, without having them all the time?
What is a normal way of eating, without being over restrictive or only calorie focused?
I don’t plan on counting the calories for the rest of my life, but should I? Or should I be more restrictive a bit in my eating for now to lose faster (no desert at all except for fruits for now, and when I reach an healthy weight I allow cheat days/occasional treats?)
Just looking for motivation and tips for this, and maybe, finding some people in a similar situation to help each other out!
Have a great day, and no matter your objectives, sending you positive vibes
