How to feel about gaining weight

I recently changed some habits regarding my mental health and that resulted in me gaining ~15 pounds. I am at a healthy BMI and all but it is just something that is difficult for anyone at any size. Does anybody have any advice or anecdotes about having confidence with weight gain?

If you are healthy in mind and body then thats the important piece. It can be a struggle to see the gain in the mirror but take time to appreciate the things your body can do that are not weight related and hopefully you'll soon love you again

I'm someone hesitant to reply in case you were underweight due to an eating disorder. If that is the case, please let us know.

If not, this woman felt better after gaining weight:

Are you recovering from an eating disorder?

your at a healthy BMI... that's why that chart is so great.. you objectively judge if you're over, under, at a healthy weight. So you're good!

BMI is a range and as long as your healthy with the gain your good. Weight changes seasonally, it's different at different times of the day, it changes due to age, the charts don't take in to account ethnicity. In my opinion that's why I there are ranges. At the low end of my BMI I would be sick. I am healthy and look good at the higher end. So your weigh gain is ok as long as you remain healthy and comfortable and happy with yourself.
    Good luck on your journey.

Consider weight training. It will reshape you and build muscle, too.

I started 222+ and bottomed out at 129 a few months ago. I was too too thin, but I couldn’t “see”’it myself. My trainer cared enough to express her concern, also a safety issue because she said I was losing muscle and put her foot down, refusing to go up in weights during training. She didn’t want to be responsible for me hurting my pigheaded self.

I’m trying to put a few back on. It’s hard mentally because your head is like “but I was 129!!!!isnt that something?” and physically because my body is suddenly like, “throw those extra calories at me, baby, I’m gonna burn em all off regardless”. It’s almost turned into work trying to increase flipping calories.

We’ve pretty much started over again with lower weights to rebuild muscle- very very frustrating, but even I’m bright enough to admit it’s a good idea.

However, even starting over, putting on a few poinds, and “feeling bulky”, my clothes are looser.

I only have a mild, very diluted view of what you’re going through (unless it’s eating disorder related. )For what it’s worth. Don’t know if it helps any, but just know you’ve got support out here. MFP is awesome about that.
