Multi vitamin?

Hi all..

Just wondering...do you guys take multi vitamins? I picked up a bottle of one a day for women, just because I felt like I should be taking them...but I didnt see a doctor or anything... does it help at all with weight loss? may be a stupid question....but i'd like to know!

    I take womens one a day. it was recommended by my doctor.
    It doesn't help with my weightloss, but it does make me feel better! I feel less tired everyday.

    Vitamins help with nutrition. Not weight loss.

    Doubt it will help with weight loss but it's good for your health if your diet isn't always consistent. I take a multi, D3, Fish oil, magnesium, calcium, red yeast rice and reverstrol (sp) every day.
  • I take a multi vitamin but I don't think it helps with weight loss.

    If your nutrition is suffering - such as it will on a lowered calorie plan - you need supplements.

    I have only been told by my physician to take a fish oil pill with meals to increase my HDL. However, I take a multivitamin, calcium, lecithin, vitamin C, and potassium gluconate every morning.

    I don't take a multi vitamin, as the iron content in most of them makes me sick. They won't help you lose weight, but some will help you have more energy- B vitamins specifically :)

    For me I have started taking Multivitamins Ultimate woman Daily Pak I found that it has increase my energy and I not craving sweets. Also I have did a complete over haul on my diet still not the best bet getting better. :wink:

    i figure if you have a healthy diet and eat plenty of fruit & veg that should cover your vitamins.

    I take a multivitam since I'm cutting carbs and want to make sure I'm getting my daily requirements.

    Hear is some info I got off a website about vitamins and dieting:

    Vitamin Basics

    Multivitamins are meant to provide your body with the U.S. Recommended Daily Allowance, or RDA, of various vitamins. Whether or not you might need to add a multivitamin to your daily regimen depends on your diet.

    B Vitamins

    Tufts University nutrition researchers report that multivitamins targeting dieters often contain higher levels of the B vitamins. This is because many dieters following a high protein/low carbohydrate diet are often deprived of B vitamins. If you are satisfied with your current multivitamin, you can add a separate super B complex to your daily vitamins. Additionally, consider weight-loss-friendly foods rich in B vitamins such as skim milk, hard-boiled eggs, green vegetables and lean fish.

    Other Additions

    IMO even if you are eating healthy foods there is always room for supplements. I doubt you could ever have the maximum recommended intake of all the vitamins/calcium/iron/magnesium/etc each day. I don`t think it does any harm to supplement your daily eating by taking tablets enriched in these vital ingredients. Vitamin D is gained by exposure to sunlight and helps with absorbing calcium. So this is not reliant on eating healthy foods....I am sure there are other things I have read about similar to this also.

    I take a lot of vitamins, but I don't take them as a multivitamin. I take them on their own. I take Magnesium, a B vitamin complex, glucosamine with chondronium for my bad joints, fish oil (because I can't stand the smell of fish, so therefore I don't eat fish, and pre-natel (at my doctors suggestion.) Most of these I because of defiencies on my blood work. I don't know how it helps with weight loss but I know they help me feel better. Agan this I take mostly at a doctor's suggestion, so take it as you will.

    Just to follow up on this. I started tracking B, A, Calcium, Magnesium, & Potassium two years ago. I cannot get all the recommended minimums of these on 1500 calories a day. Try it, it's not possible unless possibly you are juicing and eating only fish and eggs for protein.
    I tried, believe me. I eat very clean, almost no sugar and all whole foods.

    The Rubic's Cube of trying to make this work is just not that easy. Try it.
