Fat Burn OR Insanity Cardio Recovery?

Hello, Hello,

I am at the beginning stages of the Beachbody Insanity program (3 days completed, day 4 today), and have really sore calves from all of the high-impact workouts (as to be expected)!

Should I suck it up and continue with today's session of "Cardio Recovery" (keeping in mind- only 2 more days until a rest day)? OR, should I loosen up and stretch it out by jumping on the exercise bike for an hour (approx 20kms), pure fat-burning.. low impact?

Here is what "Cardio Recovery" consists of: http://www.extremely-fit.com/fitness-tips/2009/08/insanity-reviews-cardio-recovery/

If you were me, which would you chose... Fat Burn OR Insanity Cardio Recovery (which is still hardcore, if you read the link above)?

Cheers,
Aching Calves,
Picinina!

Is it - my muscles are sore from all this intense movements or is it I think I've injured myself?

If it's the good pain (lactic acid), suck it up and get back to hitting it hard. The pain will go away. Just so you know, Cardio recovery is a recovery from the intense workouts you've been doing but it's still a calorie burner. It's a good workout.

Super Job picking 1 of the hardest workouts ever put on DVD.

Def cardio recovery. You'll feel great when you are done. At least I did.

I'm pretty sure it's just lactic acid... In my mind I'm thinking... "Stop being a skirt and do it!"

I like a challenge, and this is definitely a good one! Cheers for the support. :)

My calves were really, really sore when I first started Insanity. I toughed it out and followed the program....by the 2nd week, they were not as sore. I mean, I could hardly walk!! I asked a Beachbody coach on their website about if I should take a day off or if I should plow through, he said just plow through, do what you can.....it worked great. I have been doing Insanity since jan and my results have been outstanding!!! Keep it up!! You will get awesome, incredible results!

Nice advice, and glad that my aches and pains seem to be the standard for those starting out.
    Thanks for sharing. :)

Just be very careful to pay attention to whenever your knees hurt. My friend didn't take it easy once her knees started hurting and she ended up completely unable to walk for a few days due to the knee pain....and she had a few weeks before they were back to normal.
  • Knee advice, noted. The high impact is harsh, I know.

See how I go after tonight's session. I'm hoping to report back here tomorrow saying.. SUCCESS and muscles all stretched out, feeling AMAZING!
