Body Transformation Plan

Going to use this to keep me accountable and post about my progress. I have bet £900 that I will lose 40lb by the 3rd October - when I win I will get £2k back.

Weight Loss Plan:
Goal: By the 30 September 2021 I will weigh 147lb and will be lean and strong.

Starting Position: I will take before photos and then weekly photos after that. I will weigh every week and I will measure my waist. I will take weekly progress photos.

Nutrition: I will eat 1,400 calories a day with a rough 30% protein, 35% fat and 35% carbs. I will plan my food each week and it will include 3x meals and an evening snack. I will think about nutrition & protein intake & water intake.

Workouts: before the gym re-open I will aim to walk 7,500 to 10,000 steps a day and do a home workout 3x per week based around body weight movements

After the gym re-open I will do 3x 5x5 workouts of some description and aim to get stronger on deadlifts, bench press, overhead press and squat. I will also aim to get stronger on these lifts.

I will post starting photos and measurements at some point over the next few days and I will weigh monday morning.

Yes, I think the reason people have not replied it's because they feel your goal is too aggressive. You don't have a lot of weight to lose, and loss will slow down the closer you get to goal weight. Can you still pull out and get your money back? That might be the best idea. Even if you manage you'll pay with your health as rapid weight loss is not healthy: loss of hair (weeks later), loss of energy, loss of muscles (hey, your heart is a muscle too. Plus it takes ages to build muscles).

just go for it, i suppose. you will find out what works and what doesnt along your journey.

as for me, i lost 25kg (55lb) in 8 months. average at 6.9lb per month. it is not linear though, and you will lose more on the first few weeks than the last few weeks

thats 30 weeks away. thats over a pound per week.

Depending on your starting weight (and height and age), that may or may not be a realistic goal. 1400 calories for a male is too few.

Weight loss is not linear. Some weeks you lose, some you gain. that's normal.

    Best of luck to you.

Profile says the OP is female.
  • Thanks for responses. Don't worry I took the bet out ages ago and just couldn't get into it. I can admit now I probably shouldn't have done it BUT I'm committed and I want to give it a good shot before I throw the towel in with it and regardless the underlying thing is that I need to lose weight and get healthier regardless of the payout.

I am female and I actually only need to hit 156lb but 147lb is the overall goal.
  • Starting position:
    Weight: 194.75lb
    Waist: 42 inches
    Height 5'1

Will post some before photos later. I think my goal is huge but I am feeling determined. Today is just an relaxed day with the goal of doing my food shop, eating 1400 calories and walking 7,000 to 10,000 steps.

Your goal is not outrageous but it is aggressive. The general recommendation for safe weight loss is .5% to 1% per week. Linear weight loss throughout means you would be losing 1.3 lbs per week. That's a starting rate of .6% and an ending rate of .8%.

I also have a goal of losing 40 lbs and expect to reach my goal in a similar timeline as you (7 months), so that's also why I say it's aggressive but not unrealistic. I'm currently losing 1.5 lbs per week and have been consistently since I started Dec 20th. The key FOR ME, however, is I'm creating most of my deficit with activity level which allows me to have a seemingly high calorie intake (around 2000 calories per day). If I were trying to lose 40 lbs in 7 months without a lot of exercise I would be forced to eat far fewer calories which could lead to some nutritional and sustainability concerns.

That’s the gotcha with these so called weight loss bets. There’s several threads running right now from other users who have procrastinated and now want to hurry up and lose the weight so they don’t lose their money.

These con artists count on it. Talk about the odds being in the dealer’s favor. And speaking of favors, they’re doing their users none by encouraging bad dietary behavior with these silly games.

Not slamming you, OP. I’m just frustrated on behalf of the users I’ve seen lose their money even in the relatively short time I’ve been on MFP.

Didn't take it as a slam no worries.

Hopefully I will get there but if not only myself to blame lol
  • Day 2 - feeling good. Meal plan done & food prepped and ready in the fridge. Might need eggs and salad during the week. My kettlebells arrive on the 11th and I have planned alternative a/b workouts based around the squats, push press, deadlifts and bench press. hit 10,000 steps both days.
  • Day 4 - Yesterday was a tricky day but I got through it and hit my calories. Today I have upped my protein significantly and planned in 4 meals & a snack by making a few small changes to the meals. On balance... Yeah it is good. I am pleased but I need to be consistent and get to day 14 and day 40 and day 400. My kettlebells have arrived so I will unbox and begin my first workout tomorrow.
