Which do you use more, the scale or measuring?

I started out only using the scale, but thought I'd try measuring just because the option was on MFP. I know I've posted this on my profile a couple times--sorry if it's a repeat. I am so glad to have the measurements to fall back on because every week where I've gained weight on the scale, I still had a reduction in measurements, so it helped to keep me on track. I guess I'm lucky I gain most of my weight in the middle, because with only losing 9 lbs, I've already lost 3.25 inches on my waist.
I just wonder, what do you all use more regularly--the scale or the tape?

i mostly use the measuring cups. I use the scale for meat and fish, stuff like that. Maybe fruit too. Like a apple.0

The scale- I'm an addict I try to measure myself every 3 months.0

I haven't lost or gained a single ounce in almost three weeks. However, I have lost almost 4 inches all around. Sometimes, your success just cannot be measured by the scale...so I use both!0

I have mostly used the scale and judge by the fit of my clothes. I try not to overdo the weigh ins, but it helps that I only weigh myself at the gym. It's a big motivator to me to keep going!0

I weigh myself all the time only because right now as I start, pounds are still coming off. But when I hit a plateau or see the weigh loss taper off, I'll know to rely on my measuring tape/mirror to see where the inches came off and where I've toned up.0

Fit of clothes (non-stretch ones!!), measurments....then the scale.
You know how we females are with water weight at all different times of the month!! I've found the scale to be discouraging at times...making it hard to stick to it. Clothes are the best judge. When those jeans get loose, get happy!0 -
I mostly go by the scale. I don't measure myself because I don't feel like I can do it right so I just go by the feel of my clothing. If they're getting loose(r), then I know, even if the scale's not moving, I'm still doing ok. Everyone couple of months I have measurements taken by a friend so I know for sure.0

I WISH I had measured myself at the start. I didn't take my first measurements until about 25 lbs lost. Major bummer. I focus on both, but I only take my measurements about once a month; whereas, I weigh everyday. Just about.
The key is to not obsess over either. Easy for me to say....0 -
The scale. I can't be bothered faffing about with a tape measure.0

I weigh more often than I measure, but I guage my success by my clothes and the mirror more than anything. If I look fit and my clothes are getting loose then I don't care what my measurements or weight is. But I step on the scale every time I'm in the bathroom nonetheless.0

I'm also a scale addict, ugh!!0

I do both. While I've only lost 4 lbs., I've lost nearly 13 inches overall. I do weigh every day and measure 1x/week.0

someone just read the title and not the original post......
as for me, I am in maintenance...
I go mostly by the way my favorite few pairs of jeans fit. If they start to get tight, I "focus" for a few days (most likely water weight/ high sodium) and make them comfortable again.
Other than that I just eat within reason and work out when I have time and try to enjoy life.
I do weigh every few days just out of curiosity, but I don't let it rule me. Like I was up 3 pounds and shrugged it off and still went out to eat because my pants were fine.0 -
I try to weigh myself once a week, so that I know what kind of progress I am making there. I measure myself at least once a month, but try to do it every other week. Using both doesn't hurt anything. It can help with motivation. Then if one doesn't have the results the other may. As well as, if you measure when you go to the gym or are exercising you can see where you need to work more or what you could tone more to lose more inches. I think it really boils down to your preferences.0

Both and clothes... I weigh weekly... measure monthly... and try clothes on that didn't fit periodically... though the last is the toughest because, well if something I love still doesn't fit I get sad...
all and all it is about balance i have found....0 -
