What is the best at home strength training?

Hello all.
This is my 50th day and I have been doing all cardio 6 days a week 30 to 40 mins a day. I would like to add some strength training at home but have no clue what to do. I have 2lbs( i think) weights. Any suggestions?

i agree too. And i didn't like 30 Day Shred. it was too hard for me. i ended up crying and yelling at the tv both times that i've tried it.0

There are lots of ways to build strength just using your body weight.
Plank
Side plank
Chest Pushups
Tricep Pushups
Squats
Lunges
Pilates exercises
Yoga poses
Many libraries have fitness DVDs, and you can stream some on hulu.com0 -

This is a good list. Also remember that there's a good number of regular household items you can use for weights without actually spending money on weights. A gallon of water, for example, weighs a little over 8 pounds. You can put a 5 pound bag of flour in a grocery bag for an instant 5-lb dumbell.0 -

The big compound movements that use your own body weight are by far the best bang for your buck. They will lead big results with out a lot of time invested.
Pushups work (shoulders, chest, triceps, abs, low back) [note do different hand positions close, wide, medium; and put your feet on a chair. This varies the muscles you are targeting]
Chinups / pullups (you can buy a bar on amazon for $20) (shoulders, upper back, and biceps)
Dips
Squats / Lunges (glutes, hamstrings, quads)
Calf raises (calves)
I still use 50lb selectable dumbells to work on some of the smaller muscles but you can totally get by with out this, or go buy some resistance bands for $30 or so.0 -

10 Minute Solutions are a great way for beginners to start. Each DVD has 5 - 10 minute workouts. You program as many sections as you have time for. The pilates ones are my favorite. Most do not require weights.0 -

Check out the Tough Mudder workout. IIRC, it requires minimal or no equipment, has a dozen or so exercises, and is a pretty tough 30 minute (or so) workout. I'll be getting back to that once the weather turns.0
