They both contain alcohol. It's not which is worse, but that neither one is a great option when you are trying to improve you health. Avoiding alcohol when you are focused on improving your fitness level is the best option, and if you cannot avoid it limit yourself to 2 drinks. The alcohol will eventually turn into sugar and also blunts any of the fat burning that you have worked so hard to achieve. Have fun, just not too much fun!

sadly bldntz is right. Alcohol, while very fun, is not a good way to get your calories. Sure it contains grains, but not in the good way.:noway:

Check this out. It has the calorie content for any beer you can imagine and lots of hard alcohols and mixed drinks:

    Thanks..This helps me a lot
  • I think the Martini calories are wrong- just a shot of gin, or vodka, a drizzle of dry vermouth and a couple olives. that should be under 100.

Sorry It was 113 not 413 my bad lol.
  • Some beers are okay...Becks Premier light has around 64 calories in a 12oz beer and Mich Ultra has about 90. Make sure you are getting the PREMIER light versus light. This beer is an imported beer so it is more expensive but it is worth it if you want a refreshing beverage.

Shots probably are better calorie wise but you sure will get drunk a lot faster...so I guess it just depends if you want a bad hangover in the morning. :flowerforyou: Smirnoff has about 70 calories.

Some good sites for Alcohol references and all kinds of great searches:

http://www.calorieking.com/foods/ ( ---just use their "search" box, no sign-up necessary. Great site)

    http://www.calorie-count.com/

http://www.zilchmixers.com/?Click=36 (sugar free mixes for "froo-froo-with umbrella" drinks)

(--I was a past Margarita-girl. At 500 calories minimum, I had to made some changes!)

I found Cabernet to be the best choice.
It can be savored, there are lots of choices, and it is low-carb, and low-sugar. Beer and mixed drinks have a lot of carbs. Mixed drinks sometimes have lots of sugar. Plus Cabernet has a lot of antioxidants. Below is the nutrition facts I entered into MFP food database.

::::::Nutrition Facts Cabernet:::::: "en Vino veritas" (in wine there is truth)

Calorie King - Cabernet Servings: of 5.2 oz
