When choosing a cardio exercise it often specifies something like, moderate, hard, lite...........
is there an objective way of determining that - i.e. heartrate?
Thanks, it's my first day here. I was logging some exercise and realized it was very subjective, I don't mind that unless there is a different way I should be doing it.
Thanks!!

YES! Get yourself a heart rate monitor. Set it to "percentage" of max HR. Your MAX HR is determined by 226- (your age). I'm 51 so my MAX HR is 175. If I was wearing my HR monitor and my heart beats were 175 bpm my monitor would say 100%. The best way I've learned to determine how hard you are working is by your HR monitor. For me, I learned that 65-70% is low. 70-75% is moderate 75-80% Beginning of Hard Work 60-85% is hard work and anything OVER 85% is anaerobic and not recommended unless you are in intense training at the END of training, right before an event. Fat burn is BEST at 75% which is easily do-able. Good luck!0
