New mum wanting to lose pregnancy weight

Hi, I just had a baby six months ago and I'm wanting to lose weight and get healthy. Its not really pregnancy weight I want to lose cause I didn't put much weight on when I was pregnant but I've gained nearly 15kg since giving birth. I'm the biggest I've ever been and I don't want that number on the scale to keep going up so I want to do something about it now. I also want to pick up some healthy eating habits so I can set a good example for my daughter and hopefully she won't grow up to be an emotional eater like me. I only joined up today so I'm just looking for some support along the way.

You can do it! I'm trying to lose 10 more lbs to get to my prepregnancy weight (my son was born in late June) and so far, the ability to track my calories, etc. has been really helpful. Good luck to you and congratulations on your first step - signing up!0

Welcome! There are lots of moms here who are trying to lose weight in a healthy manner... eating better and exercising. I have two children, one is 5 and one is 2. Last January I started my weight loss journey, and I have lost 36 lbs.
Good luck!

And there lots of support here! I was in the same boat....with my last baby I started out at my heaviest, and though I didn't gain much in pregnancy, I also didn't drop much afterwards....and then the scale started going UP....I was almost at my 9 month pregnant weight when I decided I HAD to change, and I have...lost 37 pounds and a whole lots of inches, and am at or below my wedding weight!!! You can do it..it is hard at first, esp. if you have your "things" that are your 'friends" 9for me it was soda...it was my coffee, alcohol, and emotional drink, all in one), but once you start feeling better and seeing a change in your self, you will love it!!!0

welcome!
it takes time to lose weight when ou have a baby at home. you probably tired and don't have time to cook yourself. MFP can be great help. also soon your baby will eat many vegetables and fruits and it will be different for you as well.0 -
Welcome!:flowerforyou:
I am a new mom as well, working off extra weight--some gained during pregnancy, plus a little extra I'd lost the year prior to becoming pregnant. Please feel free to friend me if you like! I don't know how I'd do this without all the support!0 -
Thankyou everyone for being so welcoming! I am hoping I will see some success soon as so many people have said it has been a great help to them. My first day hasn't been so good though; I went over my daily calories.:grumble:
Anyway it's good to know I am in good company with other mums in similar situations.0 -
