Yes, I lost 120+ lbs with no exercise and maintained the loss for over 20 years.

Without additional or intentional exercise, yep. I was already pretty active, but I only change one thing at a time in my life. If I'd tried to add intentional exercise on a regular basis to dietary changes necessary to lose weight I'd have failed and rage quit the whole thing.

Once I dropped some weight and handled my eating habits I had more energy, more space in my brain for another change and exercise came in but only because it was now FUN.

There’s lots of people here who have had very successful, very large losses without exercise.

The saying is “weight loss happens in the kitchen”.

Folks will tell you that exercise “buys back” calories over and above your daily calorie goal, and doesn’t contribute to weight loss.

However, my personal experience had been, as I lost weight and felt better, I began exercising more, leading to feeling even better, leading to more weight loss, leading to an ultimate snowball effect. Exercise most definitely sped up my personal weight loss, but YMMV and I may be a unicorn.

In any event, there’s nothing like exercise- be it just simply walking (doesn’t have to be elaborate or killer exercise)- to contribute to feeling healthier.
