Depends what always on the road consists of.
My SO leaves home at 5am on Tuesday and returns at 7pm Thursday.
Breakfasts are usually at a hotel.
Boiled egg, yoghurt, granola and fruit. (If on the road similar, he travels with boiled eggs!)
Lunch, he carries in his truck but has access to a microwave most days so it could be something like soup or chilli. No microwave, then it is tinned tuna, chicken, or ham, on a roll. Salad and/or fruit with lunch too.
Dinner is usually the pub attached to the hotel. He usually has one of their meal size salads, there is a nice variety of them with grilled salmon, chicken, or beef. Dressing on the side to self portion.
He used to drink 2-4 pints with his dinner, now it is 1-2 glasses of red wine and a pitcher of water.
He dropped 30-35lbs quite nicely (meaning not easily but no great hardship) over about 6-8 month a couple of years ago and has maintained the eating habits and most of the weight loss.
Just for comparison. Pre the meal outline above it was quite often a fast food drive through breakfast that was calorie dense or a full traditional breakfast.
Lunch, again would have been a calorie dense shop or restaurant meal. Sandwich with the works (fries, heavy mayo, deep fried side etc)
Dinner, at the above establishment but wings, burger, fries, and beers, or similar.
(Each meal separately is not bad, and did meet a number of his nutritional requirements, just all 3 in one day really put him way over his calories.)
All that being said, it is a case of looking how, what, and where you are eating and deciding what you can change without too much hardship. I say that because it has to be a long term adjustment not just a temporary change while you lose.
Sorry, for SO’s circumstances I could natter on way too much. I’m just so pleased he made the changes and has stuck with them.
(Yes he does sometimes splurge in the evening, but it is the exception not the rule now.)
Cheers, h.
