My last chance

Well, I hit rock bottom and I guess there's nowhere to go but up. I'm in my early 60s, have been chronically ill for 25 years, and because of my illness, medications that caused me to to gain weight or make it difficult to lose, and bad habits, I'm massively overweight. I can't do bariatric surgery due to my health issues. I'm not a joiner. There are no programs for people as heavy as me. So I started doing Bistro MD four weeks ago. The first two weeks i could feel I was losing, but not in the last week. I only went seriously off the wagon one day and even then it only added up to 2400 calories for the day. With my health issues exercise is very difficult, but I bought an under the desk elliptical and that works ok, no pain, but I'm not sure if it really counts as exercise as I don't really feel it, even though I've increased the tension and go at least 45 minutes. I feel like it's all just a drop in the bucket, that it's too late, that no one could lose the amount of weight I need to lose. I feel very alone and like I've painted myself into a corner.

I've been where you are. It's never too late. I used noom to Help change my food habits. The trick is to keep adjusting what you're doing until it starts working. Also to surround yourself with others who want to make changes too. Hang in there. Do a little every day to build up the habit (Google micro habits). Sending you loads of luck!

Never too late. I suspect exercise will be easier when you've lost some weight, and you can do that just by careful logging here on MFP. Not sure what Bistro MD is, but if you pick a reasonable calorie goal on here--Don't try to go for a "crash diet" effect and starve yourself, you will be less likely to binge and will lose steadily. For many of us, getting a group of friends to help us feel accountable helps, and you can support each other as you go along. I'm 60 and just took 10 lbs off this spring after creeping up before and during the pandemic, and I have friends older than I am who are losing significant amounts of weight, so age should not be a barrier. Understanding that old habits will have to be replaced with new ones is the key. You can do it!
