I got my wake up call

I am perfect aware of my size, I do shop for my own clothes after all, and I look in the mirror every day. I even know how much I weigh.

BUT I have gotten my first official "wake up call" that I hope helps me stay on track this time.

I was at starbucks, ordering a skinny latte ;) and the *insert cuss word here* said "so do you know what you are having?" to which I look confused, and she says "your baby"

It was NOT an enjoyable time!

That was my wake up call last March! I am feeling so much better now. I wish you nothing but the best while you are on your journey. It is so worth it!

WOW!!!! I would've strangled said person!

I don't think that question should EVER be posed to ANY woman unless you know for 100% sure that she is having a baby!!

It should be like asking a woman how old she is!!!

    I'm sorry:cry:

People can be a little dense - you know you're on the right track, so just keep truckin' and don't let anyone bring you down!

    *hugs*

Oh my goodness! I wouldn't ask any woman that question unless she had already told me HERSELF that she was pregnant, or if I was actually seeing a baby emerge from her body at that moment. How rude! I hope that the person was mightily embarrassed when you told her that you aren't pregnant.
  • that has happened to me SEVERAL times. it is the most irritating this ever! Don't let it get you down! Use it as motivation to keep working hard. That's what I do.....

    I got one:
my darling student, innocently looked at me and hugged me, wrapping her arms around my fat stomach. she looked up and said: does it keep you warm at night when you sleep, like a polar bear?

    yeah that was fun.

she was like 9 years old, so I couldn't strangle her.

Some people just assume that if you have weight in your tummy that your pregnant, most of the time thats true but there are alot of women who carry their weight only in their midsection, Gal... ive had that happen to me alot even when i was in middle school its very discouraging and detrimental to your body image :embarassed: the last time it happened to me was when i was at the doctors office and i said to myself ive had enough!!
We can do it!!

I have a great one. A number of years ago, I was traveling with a friend and we stopped to see her sister's family. Her little nephew stood in front of me, in awe, IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROOM and said, "Wow, I bet you could tackle Refridgerator Perry!" If you haven't heard of him, he was a defensive lineman for the Chicago Bears around 1985. Wikipedia says this about him, "Nicknamed “The Refrigerator” for his gargantuan, square-like frame, Perry was 6 ft 2 in (1.88 m) and weighed 382 lbs (173.4 kg). at his peak weight." :blushing: That was a great day.

I calmly said, "Why yes, I might be able to."

Its all we can do, like jenninsocal said, make it a wake up call! Too bad I didn't "wake up" then, but no use crying over spilt milk or what ever. Today is a new day, and here we are!
