I add them in but I rarely eat them back.... a few days I have been hungry all day long and have eaten all day long. I was very glad to have them in on those days.0

im thinking the same.. i was told at the gym that you shouldnt eat the extra calories you've earnt as you might as well not have done the exercise in the first place if that makes sense... so this week im gonna exercise as normal .. log it but ignore them .. have a good week ..0

I don't really add mine very well anymore. I do a lot of stairs throughout the day that I don't log at all.0

I always put in my EC, but I never eat them all back. Yesterday, I burned over 800 doing exercise and I ate none of them back. I usually eat some of them back, especially after strength training. Your muscles need extra protein for faster recovery from lifting weights, so I eat a high protein meal after a strength training session, even if it dips into my EC.0

I started not logging exercise a few days ago, so it's too early to tell if it's doing me any good. So I guess I had the same thought as your good self. Good luck. x0

My physician told me not to add exercise in because it messes with all of your numbers. Plus, any calories burned during exercise will only help you reach your goal faster. Depending on your daily calorie allotment, if you don't need the extra calories, then don't eat them. I'm still able to be fulfilled only using my base calories, but that might not be true for everyone.
Unfortunately, there are people who strongly believe otherwise. Ultimately, you have to do what's best for you so that you don't feel like you are starving yourself.0 -
On websites like this (and analysing stuff) I always say I am sedantary, and then ignore all the walking I do (1 hour+ a day). I only add in exercise for exercise's sake, if that makes sense, so I hope that my hour of walking is like a secret added bonus.0

I don't log my exercise at all. I still lose weight so it seems to work out ok.0

I always add my exercise calories to my diary, but will rarely eat them all back. I use MFP to track how I'm doing with both weightloss and fitness.Ultimately, you have to do what's best for you so that you don't feel like you are starving yourself.
I wholeheartedly agree!0 -
i never eat my exersice cals back! never have done either!
i do not add in stupid "lazy" stuff in like cleaning the house or in town shopping! only the "real" get off your *kitten* exersice if you know what i meen....0 -
I always log my exercise... I like to see how many cals I can burn in a week it is like a game to me to try to get a few more every week
I only eat some of them back if I am really hungry so that I dont get so hungry I go on a binge!!!! I have 1200 a day before exerice it is a 700 a day calorie deficit already so If i am really hungry I might eat back 200 or so. My workouts usually burn 500-700 a day.

I know that you're gonna get a lot of suggestions/opinions about eating back your exercise calorie. The truth is that what works for some does not always work for others. I was told to eat all or part of my exercise and I stopped losing and infact I started to gain weight. So what I do is eat what my MFP is set at and I do not eat my exercise calorie back and I have been losing weight since then. I have tried it both ways and this way works for me. You might need to try it too to see what works for you. I eat anywhere from 1200-1350 and I don't eat back exercise at this time. If my weight loss stops in the future then I might try eating back again, but now this works.
Edit to add: I log in my exercise, but I just DONT eat any of the calories back.0 -
my thinking behind this is that i can trick myself..hehe....when i see that i have extra calories then i play games and think of stuff i can eat that i really have no business eating..or drinking for that matter...I guess I figure if i have a buffer i can go over alittle if needed...I'll try it for the next week and see how things go...last week i lost 2.5 pounds and i wasn't exercising and went over almost everyday. go figure!..all the best to you all:)0

I log mine, cos it makes me feel good to see what I have done, but I only eat them back at the weekends.0

You will get a lot of opinions on this...
I log my exercise (“proper exercise” – I don’t count every day exercise like walking back n forth or housework – as we all do that, unless I do something extra strenuous like a trip to the tip or an hour's window cleaning etc – in fact as a general rule of thumb – if I’m not wearing gym clothes, I don’t log it!)... but that’s up to you of course.. works for me... :-)
I have just 1200 cals per day and I like to log exercise as I like to see how many cals I burn (a running tally), I don’t eat them ALL back. Probably only 200 or so (I tend to earn between 500-700 per day with working out). But it’s good to know if I’m out for a special occasion or want a treat, that those extra cals ARE there to fall back on, and I find I don’t THEN binge or feel too guilty. On a “regular day” I only eat some of them back if I am really hungry or really feel I deserve a treat, but as I say only a few.
Good luck x0 -
I agree with not eating all of your calories back after exercise since it zeros out the exercise but what I have found is eating something small and healthy after exercise like fruit keeps me from being even more hungry later. I've done a lot of reading and what I have learned since starting myfitnesspal is: exercise isn't simply about burning calories for losing weight, exercise also tones existing muscle and builds new muscle and this muscle helps our bodies keep it's metabolism up and fat from coming back. In myfitnesspal your daily calorie limit is based upon the amount of physical activity you do on an average with a certain number of calories removed from that so that you can lose weight over time. If additional exercise is added into the mix the amount of calories you burn, increases, but so does your body's caloric need as well, it is reasonable not to eat all of those calories back because we don't want to waste the exercise effort, but, I have found what works for me is eating a small snack with a balance of carbs and protein after exercise helps me keep my energy up and fight off a bigger hunger attack later in the day. On the days where I skip my after-workout snack I can't seem to fight off the hunger later. The day after is especially bad for me sometimes. I hope this helps somebody.0

I log it because it makes me do it.
I don't eat the calories though so I guess I might as well not log.0 -
I always log my exercises and usually eat some of my ec back, I don't plan it, it just depends on the day.0

Me too! Just as an experiment as I'm 2lb away from the 2 stone mark (14lb). Good luck!0

I agree with this. Do what works for you. I always log my exercise but I let my body dictate if I am going to eat my exercise calories back or not. If I feel hungry, sluggish, or tired after a work out I take it as my body is telling me that I need more fuel. If I feel ok, I just eat my regular calories. Most of the time, I find myself just eating my regular calories. I have a 1670 daily goal, most of the time I eat around 1400 which is more than enough. Once the exercise calories are added in am up to 2100 ish For me this is just way to much to eat. After a month of being on here, if I eat close to that amount (2000 or more) my stomach pays for it the following day, making me feel sick and disgusting all day.
I believe there is not a right or wrong answer to this. Experiment with it, find what works best for you and then stick to it. Good luck!0
