Eating back the calories you burned is not ridiculous. You are already at a deficit with 1200, so to also burn an extra 300 puts you at net 900 calories. 900 calories is not healthy. It may be ok short term, but not long term. It can affect not only energy, hair, skin and nails, but your heart health. You only have one body. If you don't take care of it, where will you live?9 -

There's a real conflict in wanting to look like an athlete but not eating like an athlete.
What your goal needs is both low body fat and good muscle mass.
Time to reconsider if what you have done since your twenties is now compatible with your current physique aims.
As goals change methods have to change too.
