Losing weight

Hi,
My name is Larry and I'm not very disciplined with my eating. I love sweets! So I'm hoping that keeping track of what I eat will make me more conscious of when and how much I eat. Whether it will help me pass up that extra cookie or candy bar remains to be seen.

    You got this, Larry!

One thing I like to do is plan my treats. If you like sweets, plan in advance to have a cookie or a candy bar and pre-log it in your diary! I bought a box of ice cream bars and pre-logged one for dessert every night this week - those 160 calories are already spoken for, so I'm just working with the remainder of my calories for the rest of my meals in the day.

And sometimes I get to the end of the day and it's time for my treat and I decide, you know what, I actually don't really want this tonight. So I skip it and save myself a handful of calories - maybe I'll splurge a little tomorrow, or maybe I'll "pocket" the difference and see it on the scale eventually. Every now and then, maybe once every few months, I'll "save up" calories like that for a few days, and get an extra-special treat on the weekend (my favorite pizza, some frou-frou coffee drink, etc).

edit to add the point of the suggestion, LOL: it can be tough when we get into a "dieting" mindset, sometimes we decide that because we're Dieting, we Can't Have Anything Nice Ever Again, which burns us out and then in a moment of weakness we say to hell with it and devour a whole box of cookies or whatever our treat of choice is. This is what the diet industry wants, because it sets us up to fail. Instead, if we learn to live with treats and plan for them, they don't become the Forbidden Fruit and we don't get that moment of "I'm tired of dieting and I'm hungry and this is the Last Snickers Bar On God's Green Earth so I MUST eat it Right Now!!"
