My Cup Runneth Over

I have a question for anyone who want to provide input.
On my daily food log, the little picture of a cup representing water for the day is overflowing. Does that mean I am drinking too much water? Can a person drink too much water when dieting?

The MFP recommended daily water intake is 8 cups, so if you drink more than that, your cup runneth over. Unless you are really over doing it, don't sweat it. On days I workout, it's not uncommon for me to drink well over my "recommended" 8 cups :)

My cup always overfloweth. As long as you spread your water intake over the entire day, you'll be fine.

I aim to get at least 10 a day, sometimes 16 or more.

Unless you're not doing something like downing a gallon in ten minutes, don't worry about it.

To answer your question, yes, it is possible to overhydrate. A good rule of thumb is 50% of your body weight in ounces per day. So a 140 pound person should drink 70 ounces or 8.75 cups of water per day. However, if you're active, you should be getting more like 75% of your body weight in ounces. Using that same person, that's 105 ounces or about 13 cups per day.

Another way to judge is urine color. If your urine is clear, you're overhydrated. As long as it's slightly yellow, you're fine.
