Tracking weight loss

Probably an old question... so that would make it an easy answer??
Tracking your weight loss, is it better to stick with your weight from the beginning or to modify and track from your highest weight if your weight increased after the start?
Example: Started the journey on Jan 1st. Jan 1st weight was 200, Jan 22nd it was 205. Which weight should be used in tracking my weight loss today?
I have been wondering about this too much and am flip flopping on it. Time to put it to rest in my brain! What do people think?

Your tracking should reflect everything that happens - increases too.
If you mean your starting weight for total lost, then the higher weight, since isn't that what you are dropping weight from?1 -
I track everything. So if there's a gain, I input it in the app. It won't announce it to everyone but it helps keep a more accurate record of what's really going on.1
