HI MFP! Does anyone have any reccomended good "on the go" snacks that are low in carbs with a good amount of protein? Oh and also low in sugar? I plan on going to the grocery store today.. or even Trader Joes possibly to stock up on a few snacks. I'll be going to NY for about 4 days and I always eat like crazy when i'm there so I wanted to bring snacks with me hah :) Thanks for any responses!

String cheese is a great snack, especially the low fat. And it keeps ok in your purse for awhile without refrigeration. A week, no, a couple hours, sure.

Almonds are also a great portable high protien snack.

I carry almonds, carrots, cheese and pepperoni sticks as snacks (the pepperoni is locally made so I know not only the people making it but what is going into it, it's a bit healthier that way).

Depending on your "Low Carb" veggies are allowed (that's why I have the carrots) but the tropical/high GI carbs are restricted (most fruits)

Feel free to check out my diary. I've been sticking to a lower carb / sugar (and sodium) diet since finding out I have PCOS earlier this summer. Most of my snacks (unless it's an off day, which you can clearly identify) fall into all of these categories :)

I agree with this. I buy sargento light mozzarella sticks and they are only 50 calories each and 6g protein I beleive. I also buy the Emerald nut 100 calorie packs.
