Doctor's are concerned

Options
WEll here we are trying for another day. One day at a Time they say but for me it's like One Hour at a Time. LOL The doctors are worried about the swelling in my legs and the weight going up instead of down. So now I wait for a phone call to say whether they will increase my fluid pills or lower the sodium intake or change the liquid restrictions. Who knows so I'll wait for a call back. I log everything in and still I can't seem to do better. So I think I have to really take a deep deep look at what I'm having and doing. So here's to another day and hope all out there are doing well. God bless

Have you tried some meal planning and logging in advance of eating? I try to have a sense of what I plan to eat for the day and enter it all in before I even have breakfast. It allows me to see how it all fits into my calories for the day and if I have room to add or if I need to change portions, etc. Then if I eat what is on my “menu”, I know I have a deficit for the day.

Maybe you are prone to sodium, hence your water retention, You have to be extremely careful what you eat and how much sodium is in the food
I could eat one salmon/veggie burger/cheese etc and by the end of the day, I can tell that my sodium intake was too high, because I could see it in my feet - and this is just one example of a food where I have to be careful
One of the things I drink is 100% cranberry juice (Trader Joe's) which really helps in flushing out the sodium. i drink between 2 - 4oz with lots of water and it helps.
If you are not allergic to cranberry juice - try it whilst waiting and see if it works
Try and limit the seasoning in your food, also salad dressings. I just use olive oil for my dressing along with a squeeze of limit
Mrs Dash is a good salt free seasoning - it takes getting use to - but you really may not have a choice
It would help if you open your diary so that folks could give you a more honest opinion

From what you say, I'm sure your medical advisers are on top of your vitamin levels. This may seem like a very long shot, b vitamins, especially b 12 and b 6 can help with some forms of pain.

I became frustrated with the pile of supplements I've been taking. One always hears people use too many and about them going down the drain so. I stopped my b vits beyond a specialised all in one without copper, my joints and things became worse. Back on them at the same level and I'm more myself but its only been two days.

In all this, you must do what is right for you. I hope you can get on top of your diabetes and things. I know what you mean about piles of paper work. I was the same trying to track down my salicylate sensitivity and Histamine intolerance.

Hi Fflpnari I've been at this for a long time on and off. In 2015 I weighed 445 lbs. Got that down to 350 now and having a hell of time to get lower. If I get sick with flu or stomach bug I drop a lot but then it goes back on. OOPs got to go help make supper. Be back

Unfortunately with many health problems you have to bite the bullet and follow your doctors orders. My BIL is a cardiac specialist and is always harping on salt intake for all of us. I'm 66 with OA and so, know what it's like to live with pain. Tackle the most serious of your problems first. Logging is essential and try different things to substitute salt--or at least a part. Good luck.

Not sure if you will be interested, but I bought this bag of cauliflower rice from Costco - it was not my normal bag, so I was really skeptical about it. Left it in the freezer for at least 2 months or more. Last week I decided that I need to cut my carbs and tried the CR, well let me tell you that it's the best one to date that I have eaten

It's very firm even when cooked - not sure how much the bag cost - but there are 4 packets (453 grams each) in the large bag (frozen)

Tropicaland Premium Selection - Organic Rice Cauliflower - 5 individual 16oz steamable bags

I sauteed some carrots (cut up finely) in my homemade seasoning of (spring onions, onions, garlic, olive oil and lemon pepper seasoning in a food processor), then stored in jars in the fridge for ease of use

Then I add the chopped up zucchini to the CR, cover and let cooked

Today I decided to add tuna in olive oil and it was tasty and filling

It's a low calories food, does not take but cooking and you could eat the whole bag which is just over 110 calories with piece of chicken and small salad

I would encourage you to look into visualizations (what what you want to happen - seeing it as if it has happened, several times a day) and mindset shifts (ie telling yourself you are healing, and what you are doing is working, even if you can't see it yey), and adding a naturopath to your team of practitioners.

ALWAYS keep searching for the answer! Best wishes! :)
