... we don't have freedom of speech on a privately owned website..................

    This.
  • It's Not an Adult site. Sadly, proof that you are misinformed. This is a FITNESS site. and yes, it has an open forum area. For those that are having serious issues with this, I think you may need to check yourselves.

That being said, the perception of everyone's morality is at hand. And in a time in which decency and respect has lost all value, mabe "WE" as a community need to grow some skin, and recognize that there is a bigger issue than the immediate butt sore you feel because you are on a site that has the ability to SHUT YOU OUT. Dont' like it? go make a 1st ammendment site and enjoy.

We are not talking about that kind of adult site...you misread

We are talking about being locked down and modded for having a sense of humor and for example I had a viable question about sexual health this morning that got locked and deleted yet the information is vital to our well being and should be treated as information and not sexual content.

i missed your question, but i do believe that things have been taken too far as for what can and cant be said.....think about where this country is headed in the next ten years if we cant have our own opinions anymore......

Actually, technically it is an adult site.
    4. ELIGIBILITY

BY USING THE WEBSITE OR SERVICES, YOU REPRESENT AND WARRANT THAT YOU ARE AT LEAST 18 YEARS OLD AND ARE OTHERWISE LEGALLY QUALIFIED TO ENTER INTO AND FORM CONTRACTS UNDER APPLICABLE LAW. This Agreement is void where prohibited.

If the site requires that members are over 18, then by definition that would make it a site for adults.

thank you for your proof Thomas!!

what are we teaching our children when we stifle others and shove our own ideas down there throats? to be a bunch of followers and robots instead of individuals?? great way to turn this country into something its not, or wasnt suppose to be! makes me ashamed of people...........i hope my choldren dont have those rights takin away when we have so many soldiers who have lost their lives for our freedom........jus sayin, did we all forget what happened 10 years ago on 9/11 /2001?????????????

OUr kids are being taught to be over sensitive whiners in the world..............

A lot of schools have implemented no touch recess and such and kids get suspended if they touch - which means they can't even play games like tag at recess..............

The United States sucks and is way off track. We are all becoming a bunch of wimps.
Bless the military for protecting your right to sit in the comfort of your home and say that your own country sucks. Your statement sucks.

You're welcome. And SO Agree...Change starts within...have an issue with those around you, then begin the change.

yes it is...or will get us deleted on a MODS accord....

    ^^that one^^

A lot of the people here who have a legit fitness background or have been in the industry long enough to have extensive knowledge (and therefore can offer quality advice/recommendations) - need a bit of comic relief. This comedic relief is frequently found in the Chit-Chat, Fun & Games section. Unfortunately, their elevated IQ requires a higher caliber punchline than that which can be offered by a knock-knock joke. Advanced, indecent and even warped senses of humor are common. Sarcasm runs rampant.

Just because in America you have to be 21 to drink, in European countries a person can drink once they reach 18.

Irrespective of the legal age to purchase or consume alcohol, the terms of this website are subject to Contract Law not Criminal Law. Under Contract Law in all jurisdictions an adult is 18 years or older.

The flame wars are getting stupid. There is no People vs.Mods, they win, they have the power.
Guess what, you can do what Mike did and pay for a server and a domain name and start your own board. The come pretty much pre-packaged for you so with minimal coding you can get it all setup.
Stop whining and either conform to majority or leave. After all, isnt that what America was founded on, since we are being patriotic and all suddenly. Kick in where you fit in or start a site and send out invites to it.

And before anyone says that freedom of speech is only guaranteed under the US Constitution; it is a widely recognised right in all democratic societies.
Article 10 of the European Convention on Human Rights

    ARTICLE 10

    1. Everyone has the right to freedom of expression. this right shall include freedom to hold opinions and to receive and impart information and ideas without interference by public authority and regardless of frontiers. This article shall not prevent States from requiring the licensing of broadcasting, television or cinema enterprises.
2.The exercise of these freedoms, since it carries with it duties and responsibilities, may be subject to such formalities, conditions, restrictions or penalties as are prescribed by law and are necessary in a democratic society, in the interests of national security, territorial integrity or public safety, for the prevention of disorder or crime, for the protection of health or morals, for the protection of the reputation or the rights of others, for preventing the disclosure of information received in confidence, or for maintaining the authority and impartiality of the judiciary.

  • I never understood how an 'adult site' or a forum that requires that you be over 18yrs old (or any said age, for that matter) can actually be monitored or enforced. There is no way to confirm any person's profile information. There is no way to show proof who you are, your age, whether you are male or female or something else, or even if you are a nutcase or not.

NEWS FLASH .. THIS IS THE INTERNET !!! Any source of information found on this forum or this website can not be deemed to be authentic or reliable without substantiated proof (how ever dependable even THAT may be).

The problem is it is driving the knowledgeable people away...which is their main source of traffic.

    I agree...................

I have been on the verge of leaving this site for a looong time. I actually DID deactivate my old account last year and then stayed away for several months and then came back and stayed under the radar for a while.

Ive spent the last 6 years as a forum moderator on a site of over 600,000 members, and I see where both sides are coming from. Im not super familiar with the specific battles that have been going on on the site, but Im sure they are nothing that different then the ones Im used to modding over.

On the one hand, this is a community of people, and from time to time, people will have different ideas. Wether its a better weightloss technique, diet plan, or maybe something more out of the scope of fitness, such as politics, and dare I say, religion. While its important to express differences in opinions, sometimes these debates can become vicious and hostile, and thats when moderators need to step in. Ive watched people literally stalk one anothers posts after an argumernt, making every thread they post in about what the initial argument was about, even though that thread isnt about that. I have watched people send graphic images, viruses, trojans, tried to hack into one anothers accounts, tried to take down our website, try to hack MY account (even though I wasnt the person they were arguing with), all because of silly arguments they have had. Currently we are dealing with a a team of about 8 people who are trying to attack all the staff on our site (verbally) and are trying to get other members involved, essentially trying to establish a coup. I dont know that it went that far on this site, Im just saying that sometimes its easier to delete threads or ban certain topics, just to avoid things from getting out of control
