Why Do I Have Trouble Digesting?

Ok I'm sorry if this grosses anybody out, but for the past few days I have had slight diarrhea, and I have to pass gas more often than usual. When I am running I have to stop earlier because I have uncomfortable pressure above my bladder, but I can't get anything out in the bathroom. Would anybody be willing to look at my food diary and give me some suggestions as to why this is happening/ how to reverse it?
Also, I am aware that I have not been eating well (no veggies or fruits), and before telling me I need more lean meats, I am trying to be vegetarian, so that is not an option.

I would suggest adjusting your food log to include tracking fiber. It is good to shoot for around 25 grams per day. If you are eating a lot more fiber rich foods than normal, this may be your body telling you, HEY, what are you doing to me, back off on the fiber! Also, are you drinking water? I'm not seeing it on your journal, but didn't want to assume that you weren't. :bigsmile:0

If you are "trying" then I suggest you talk with a doctor about this to make sure you are getting all of the nutrients your body NEEDS. If you already know you aren't eating enough fruits and veggies...then that is some of your problem. Good luck!0

I think you hit it on the head when you said that you haven't been eating much fruits and veggies. Those clean out out digestive tract and are essential to your diet. I see a lot of starch in your diet. Although it looks like healthy starches from what I saw, it can also be a lot of fiber. Fiber is good but if we get too much we can get real gassy and even constipated. Do you drink a lot of water? If not, do it! It totally helps in that department as well and also drinking a luke warm glass of water before bed and when you wake up makes it easier to go. Hope this helps in some way and maybe others will have better advice for you!0

My guess is the fiber one bars. You need to make sure to drink a lot of water too to help the fiber out0

Looking through your diary I definately agree with the fruits and veggies. Make sure you are adding protein outside of just soy such as nuts and beans and lentils. I am wondering if you might be sensitive to soy products? The other thing is you are higher in carbs. Just some things to think about.0

You should see a doctor. Maybe you're transitionning to vegetarian too fast.
Vegeterian can be a very healthy diet IF your body can handle it. If you can't, you may still need to eat milk, cheese, and eggs. Sorry... but that's just the way it is for some people's bodies. And before you go dropping a bunch of money on really expensive eurine, have your Doctor tell you what supplements you should be taking. Otherwise... you're just enriching your pee at the expense of your wallet.0 -
I agree with the above -- it is the fiber bars that you are eating every day -- that will do it to you -- and the days that you do eat them, you need to drink ALOT more water to help the problem out. Try and find another alternative to fiber besides those bars and you will notice a difference, do not eat the bars everyday -- I can see why you are having those problems. GOOD LUCK :huh:

I don't see anything in your food diary that would cause this to happen. You mentioned that you are trying to be a vegetarian. Does this mean you recently made the switch from dairy & meat products to all vegan products? If so that could be whats ailing you, your body hadn't adjusted to the sudden change, you might need to add in a few dairy products just for the time being to help your body gradually get used to the new products. If this isn't the case you may want to consult your doctor.0

You might want to check whether the things you are eating contain any sugar alcohols. Many times foods that are sugar free or low cal, us those and they do terrible things to my stomach, such as you are describing. I think you already know that you need to add in more fruits and veggies and natural foods. Try eating every 2-3 hours and include more raw veggies and fruits. I actually weigh my raw veggies everyday to get in at least 1 pound of raw. and then include cooked greens and such in most of my meals.0
