Anyone lost 100lbs without loose skin?

Hey guys,
I've started my weight loss journey and I'm prepared to have loose skin as my weight comes off.
My stats are:
Female, 5'2, SW: 236lbs, GW: 130 lbs
I'm prepared to have lose skin because even now with all this weight I have two droopy fat rolls on my stomach and saggy boobs but I'm still hoping to hear of some experienced where there was minimal loose skin.
Would love to hear of your experiences.
Thanks!

I'm starting with just about the same numbers, and I'm terrified of ending up with lots of loose skin. I know it's going to happen, but would also like to hear other experiences.0

I 'only' lost about 50 lbs, but I will say that I looked a lot worse when I was only part way through than I did later on. As you lose you sort of deflate, but still have a lot of fat. It makes things saggy and floppy. As you lose more it turns into JUST skin. Which is sort of wrinkly and crepe like, but doesn't sag and flop around and is basically invisible in clothes.
I'm not quite at goal weight, but t his is playing out pretty consistently as I go - it looks better as time goes and even at 44 and a couple of kids things have tightened up with time.
It's really NOT the big deal people make it out to be, even with massive lost. Looking at some youtube videos from people like Obesetobeast will show some lose skin and the fact is that it's there but it's not actually obvious or terrible looking.
When you're done. The midstage and fact that you lose fat unevenly can make some weird stuff happen :P20 -
I am just about 100 pounds down and have some loose skin under my arms that is annoying, but I think will continue to lessen as I get closer to goal weight. And like @wunderkindking said its not noticeable under clothes and is 100% worth it for the health benefits of losing the extra weight.13

Thank you both for sharing! This makes me feel a little more hopeful.5

I have lost 66 lbs as of now, started at 277. Some of my skin is a little loose, like only a smidge in the thighs - barely noticeable. I am also older - about to turn 48, and started in 2013 so going very very very slowly. Have no idea if this impacts it. I guess when I lose the rest of the 44 I will update you - if I survive that long. Sorry, main goal was losing it and keeping it off. So slow was the plan all along. Since lent I have sped it up a bit, because penance!7

Hi, this has always been on the back burner for me. I am an active 68-years-old and 5' 2". I started out at 319 lbs. 7/16/20 and C.W. is 209. I have come to the decision that if I am still alive and totally wacked out about loose skin when I reach my goal (140 lbs. ) I will seek cosmetic surgery. I am more concerned about my sagging boobs (started out 50 DDD) than my stomach or thighs. Last thoughts on this subject is "be kind to yourself no matter how saggy your skin is".14

I'm currently combining Intermittent Fasting w a Keto approach. The top "IF" doctors claim much loose skin, old cells, old mitochondria, etc. can be reused / recycled if you enter a physiological state called 'atophogy' - which can happen through fasting.
Dr. Berg has hundreds of videos on YouTube. Most videos typically 3 - 10 minutes. IF can be 12 hours, 16 hours, 24 hours, or more. I'm doing OMAD now (one meal a day). There are legal cheat foods... cruciferous veggies, tea, coffee (no sugar), etc.
Dr. Jason Fung another early proponent of intermittent fasting, his videos are longer, comparisons to the Caveman, etc. (We were designed to burn fat first, and muscle as a last resort.)
Here is one video that explains the high level- different levels of fasting, and some of the incredible benefits. (I'm currently eating one meal per day. For beginners, there is also a video for IF Basics.)

Hey there,
I am down 54 lbs with no sign yet of loose skin.
My stats: 38yo Female. Height 5'9" Starting Weight: 271.1 Current Weight 217 Goal Weight 165
Ay the beginning of my journey I told myself that my reward for losing to goal and staying in maintenance for a period might be cosmetic surgery for any excessive loose skin. I am now hoping to spend that reward bank on a new wardrobe instead!6 -
I don't know if this helps, but I don't think loose skin matters. At least it doesn't to me.
When I see women that have lost so much weight that they have loose skin, I completely ignore that and instead I focus on the huge accomplishment of losing the weight. It takes serious discipline to pull that off and I find that very attractive.10 -
I have lost 100# and have tons of loose skin. I wear clothes. My face is wrinkled, but that has
been like that forever. I look at the folds and think I'd rather have loose skin than nice tight skin filled with 100# of fat. It's all in your attitude.9 -
I"m also a fan of fasting and believe it's helped with the loose skin. It's the primary reason I got into fasting.2

I'm 65 and started at almost the same point (5'2", SW 233#, CW 180#, GW 130#). I'm at that floppy stage though, at my age, I may stay floppy but that is okay because I'll still be so much healthier. I'm already so much healthier! But, yes, I would love to not have a bunch of extra skin. Interesting about IF helping reduce excess skin; I'll have to read up on that.1

I have loose skin. Trust me. Loose skin Is way better than being fat. 105 pounds down!10

I've loss 51 lbs and 27 lbs to go and my inner thigh skin is getting lose and jiggly and the rest of me is jiggly on this transition as well, here's to hoping exercise and time will help with that especially once reaching goal and beyond.2

Lost about 95 pounds at this point. I do have a big belly pouch and I suspect that it's going to become loose skin, but that's pretty easy to hide and that's why they make shapewear. No major issues with arms, maybe a little bit of loose skin on upper thighs, a little on back of butt, but really, it's all in places that a good pair of bike shorts can hide. Weight training helps quite a bit, as does hydration.5

Think logically here. If it's about just food quality, etc., then we should have an obese prison population. Oh and they should be all dead after eating that way 3 times a day for 5 years.

My experience with clientele is that if one has more than 80+ lbs to lose, there will be a high likelyhood of loose skin somewhere on the body (usually abs, glutes, inner thighs and under arms)

I lost 135 lbs and had a lot of loose skin. I was late 50's when I did it, and people told me I was just going to have loose skin. It has tightened up a lot in the last 2 and a half years. I don't really think it is even noticeable now. Easily the worst was on my face and neck initially.15

I'm almost at the half-way point in this current journey, (I previously lost a 100#, gained it almost all back), I'm 49, 5'9" and do a 16 hour IF with a calorie zig-zag, cardio six days a week and weights three days a week. I have loose skin. It just is what it is. If I remember correctly, previously I still had a bit of loose skin, but not as much. I lifted back then as well, but I was also seven years younger. I imagine some of it will shrink, but you lose elasticity as you age, so I'm not going to hold my breath too much. I'm getting stronger and healthier, that's all that matters.8

I lost 130 pounds in 2012-2013, and I have loose skin. While it can be annoying, I would rather have the loose skin than have the fat.3

I've lost 55 so far and yes, there's a lot more jiggle. I'm pretty sure I'll need abdominoplasty because I am shortwaisted and in my 20's had three large babies. And I'm thinking I may need breast reduction, as so far my body has lost weight (from a 42 band to a 34 band) but the actual stuff that is in the cups, hasn't. I'm at a J cup now, and my shoulders ache every night. I would not be the first person in my family to get a reduction, either.4

This^^
But I’m 60 and started losing at 57. Don’t know how old OP is.
Good news- with the exception of my turkey neck, the loose skin is nearly always hidden under my clothes. Most of it is at my belly but below the waist line so even a swimsuit or gym shorts hides it. As far as the turkey neck, it is way better than 100 chins!3 -
Succeed!

Thank you all for your replies. Its much appreciated. Definitely - losing the weight is waaaayyy better than the loose skin consequence. It's just there are moments of self doubt when you think of yourself as a single girl who is yet to get married. Unfortunately, sometimes we get distracted by our own vanity and that's why I posted the question. But thank you all for your words of encouragement. Here's to hoping that I'll persist in this journey.8

I recently started feeling as though loose skin is in my near future. Since the weight isn’t coming off evenly, there are definitely areas that make me feel “deflated” and have had days where I feel gross. Compression clothing helps but reading this makes me optimistic and look forward to shedding more lbs.

Hi I have not had this kind of weight loss but when I have lost 30+ pounds in the past a few times after kids I have found weight training from early on in your weight loss journey to really help with keeping the body general tighter and "pulled together" as you lose. I found it helped to tighten up skin during and after weight loss.
Also the more muscle you gain the more it helps you burn fat. It also improves your posture, helps you obviously feel stronger, increases your stamina, relieve stress (from the tensing and releasing of muscles and sleep better). To be honest I have never found a drawback to weight training! I always love the results I get (and I always start from overweight and shapeless). It helps you drop inches so effectively.
You don't need to start immediately with weight training but I wouldn't wait until you have lost a lot of weight to start because you will get great results as soon as you introduce weight training and it seems to prevent a lot of lose skin if introduced relatively early. See a doctor to check it is safe and/or get a personal trainer or other fitness professional to teach you how to train properly to prevent injury if you are overweight and out of shape. Strength training can mean using the weight training machines at the gym, it can mean using free weights at the gym or at home and it also can mean exercises where you use your own body to build strength (such as the plank).
I am 52. I am recovering from cancer and have gradually reintroduced weight training and its how I plan (with good nutrition) mainly to lose the 35lbs I put on during recovery (plus the 10lb I was in the process of losing). Weight training is so important for building bones in women and retaining our strength which helps keep us youthful.3 -
I lost half of my weight, it took me almost three years. I had lost 156 pounds when I hit my goal.
I proudly announce that I have loose skin. I look at it as a trophy. I earned it, I worked hard for it. I stretched my skin and then I shrunk it. Through thick and thin.
Let's be honest here, it's just us girls. Five years ago I wore spandex underwear hoping it would hold all the 'wobbly' in place, no I wear them because they are chic, fit, and athletic and it helps with my loose skin as well. Also, sports bras are pretty cute and defy age-related gravity.
I walked with Nordic sticks every morning and I worked out almost every day. I assume it helped a bit. I have only a bit of loose skin on my tummy and a bit on my thighs, but it's not dramatic. It looks 'wrinkly' like my Grandma's face. I wear it with pride, just like I wear my wrinkles and the scars life gave me. A life well-lived!
I am going to be 60 in a few years. I don't expect to look like a model (even though I think I do now.) If I would be in my 20's, or 30's it would bother me much more, and perhaps I would get it removed. My husband loves me, I love me. Screw the loose skin!
You just started. Succeed! Everything else will fall into place...literally!9 -
shapewear is fantastic. Also the benefit of loose skin, for me, is that with gravity it hangs low. Which leaves me with some nice looking real-estate at the top of my stomach.
Mostly though, I gained some confidence I didn't expect to gain through this process. I didn't expect it because while I never liked how I looked, I never cared all that much either. Something about the "I AM DOING THIS FOR ME AND I AM DOING IT WELL!" thing just empowered the heck out of me, to the degree that... I just don't care what anyone else thinks of it.
I've been trying to develop that for most of my life, and saying it a long time, but only in the past year have I really achieved it. It started getting better and MORE real about the time I turned 35 and has steadily increased sense.
Middle age has been great for me. I can't wait to see just how powerful I feel when I'm sixty (not joking, aging might not be great for physical abilities or maybe even health, but mentally and emotionally? I have developed some STRONG sense of self that I would not trade for all the tight skin and perky boobs in the world.)5 -
I don't have the large losses as many here. I lost 15 to 20 pounds before MFP and have lost 46 using MFP. I have also had 5 children. I have been dermarolling and use a skin firming serum. I don't expect anything drastic, but so far out is helping to reduce the sag in my skin and reducing stretch marks. I have waffled back and forth over whether or not I should take surgical action, but the derma rolling seems to help just enough to keep me happy for now. I'm curious to see how it helps in the long run.2
-
Yes. There will be loose skin. I am probably much older than you. I have lost 63 pounds over the past 6 years. I still have 10 more pounds to goal. I will need cosmetic surgery when I am done. I am very glad that I have lost that weight despite the loose, wrinkly skin. I had hoped that slower weight loss would help with the wrinkly skin.2
