College has trampled by progress :(

Hi all!
My journey began in May 2010 and then stalled in May 2011. I had lost 22 pounds altogether with only 10 left until my goal. This summer was a transition from being at home and moving to school. Though I did well during my first two college years with weight management, I have fallen off the wagon completely. Being on campus is much MUCH different! Yes, there is a gym and salad bar and even some healthier options, which I do opt for, but it seems like I'm eating all the time. While studying, I want to eat. This week I finally started getting back to the gym. I hope it pays off.
Anyway, here I am asking for help or support from any other college students faced with the same issues. I need a push to keep me going. Someone to keep me accountable everyday to get this extra 7 pounds off plus the rest of the 10 pounds 'til goal.

I'm a college student as well. I know how hard it is and how it feels. I'm here for you! If you need any help/ideas I'l help you out! Good luck!0

Not sure what to say. It can be difficult to balance healthy living with the general chaos associated with life. As for me, I work full-time, have a second part-time job, take care of my Mom who is on hospice, am raising my granddaughter and going to school part-time.
I feel your pain.0 -
I'm a college student at the University of Texas at Austin. I definitely understand what you're saying. I've struggled with weight my whole life, and since I live by myself it is way too easy to grab fast food. I actually can cook fairly well, and have been the last few days. I am just beginning my journey, and I wish you the best of luck.0

I definitely understand what you mean. Being in my 4th year in university, I've had tons of ups and downs when it came to health and weight loss. Whenever I got stressed with school work, going to the gym was the first thing to leave my schedule. Healthy eating was the second. We just have to tough it out I guess. One thing I do is NOT bring my wallet to school with me because I know that if I do I will quickly regret it! I just added you as a friend so we can support each other. Good luck to you!0

I agree with not bring the wallet to school. Last semester I started eating at Taco Bell in the student building just because it was cheap, fast, and easy. At the end of the semester, my waistline showed it, and my bank account had taken more of a hit than I realized. Now, I just throw a sandwich together and maybe some pretzels.0

I don't have a kitchen in my room. There is one for my area. But, my parents are paying for my meal plan, so I should use it instead of spending my money on junk. Luckily, the campus is pretty large and involves a lot of walking. The food is okay, but some of it is lathered in butter. I use to weigh everything at home, now I don't have access to a food scale to even do that. I'm gonna have to learn portion sizes by "eyeing" it. Salad is gonna become bland after so long.0

Salad does get old quickly, try choosing a lower calorie dressing (I had a roommate who was eating salads and gained weight because she drowned them with ranch).0

Yes! I went an bought light ranch dressing. I use only the suggested serving size of half. I feel good about today's meals, however, my protein and fat are over the limit. Question, does everyone eat back there exercise calories?0

I just started college this year, I commute but being so busy and running around, I just want to snack. Also, with everything so hectic, I find it harder to fit in as much workout time as I hoped for. Feel free to friend me0
