Your best McGyverish fix

A lower cabinet had to be removed in order to install my dishwasher. Instead of throwing it out or paying for storage, I shimmied it into the coat closet where it is now living its life as a modified shoe rack 🤷🏿‍♀️

If I can pull this off. Still a work in progress and weighing up the options.

Damaged di2 10spd (6770) mech. Cage is bent, not 100% sure about the body. The mechanical cages of the same generation are exactly the same shape and fit. So I can dismantle another ultegra 10 speed derailleur and swap its cage.I also found a dirt cheap brand new 11 speed Ultegra Di2 mech (6870). You can mix and match 10spd and 11 with those two but you need the right firmware.

Electronic shifting is beautiful when it works but it’s a total headache when something goes wrong 😬. The other option is to swap di2 out for mechanical altogether but I can’t get that battery out of the seat post lol.

For me...I keep a gripper turney-tool (I think its a wrench of sorts?) in my kitchen to tighten this thingy on the bottom of the fridge door every couple of times I open it to prevent the door from coming unhinged - b/c I'd rather do that than call the landlord to fix it

Its actually a bit of a MacGuyver fail - b/c I have to keep tightening it for fear of the door coming unhinged (which is a pita to line up)

...random - anyone here ever watched The Red Green Show? Hosers with duct tape can fix anything!

The exhaust fan on the furnace in my old house used to work itself loose with the vibration of the furnace running (extremely poor design!) and cut out. When the exhaust fan won't work, the furnace stops. I used a wire coat hanger to hold the thing up so it wouldn't drop out of position and shut down the furnace.

That house was built in 1913 and I used spray insulation foam to fill a lot of gaps everywhere and anywhere. In fact, a lot of the upstairs bathroom ceiling was spray foam, covered with paintable silicone, and cleverly concealed with paint.

So we had the walls redone and now our shower curtain rod doesn't fit(getting a new one anyways); contractor was going to cut this, cut that, make it work. I suggested we just remove end caps and place washcloths between the newly painted walls and sharper rod edges. Haha Looks unsightly but works like a charm with little extra effort.

These things work great, as well. Since they're self-stick (don't always) & can be purchased cheaply in a variety of thicknesses, they offer a bit more leverage... & are a bit less unsightly. I've used them on shower rods, too... in rentals where they kept falling off... I learned not to hang heavy, wet clothing to air dry. I guess that's what bracketed closet rods are for... who knew?
