Acidity Problems

Hello,

I have a very acidic system and cannot digest fruits very well. I ate an apple a few minutes ago and now I feel nauseated. Bananas are much worse, but I occasionally make myself eat them because they're healthy and yummy.

Anyone have any yummy, easy, alkaline snacks and recipes? The entire North American diet is based on acidic foods, which is really frustrating. I could eat 3 lbs of alfalfa sprouts, but who the hell wants to do that?! LOL. It seems the alkaline stuff has no substance to it, so it doesn't make for a full meal.

Any chance that regular exercise turns your system alkaline? ;)

Thanks in advance!
Kim

I would see a doctor and Registered Nutritionist. I have a condition that is possibly aggravated by acidity and I try to drink cold brewed coffee, which has much less acidity than that found in regular brew.

Hi Just posted in another topic. I have hiatus hernia so have the same problem with acid, although I have IBS too.

I have trouble finding what to eat, but my definite trigger is coffee! I do take tablets for it, but would rather sort it out by diet. If I carry on with the coffee, water makes me nauseous which is horrible.

there are lists out there for alkaline foods, hopefully there will be more answers.

Do you mean that you have acid reflux or something similar? I just wondered because you said 'system'.

I had reflux for a while but luckily it disappeared when my stress levels reduced.

Hmmmm.....bananas are a really low acid for fruit. Could it be something else?

I've been trying to lower my acid intake as well (frequent heartburn). I've been reading "Dropping Acid" by Dr Jamie Koufman

    http://www.refluxcookbook.com/synopsis

Some lower acid fruits are bananas, melon, raspberries, pears, a couple apples make the list......fuji & gala. This is frustrating for me as well.

There are other triggers that have nothing to do with acidity ......alcohol, chocolate, garlic, onions......caffiene as estelle mentioned....the list goes on.

It's the food. When I changed what I eat (nothing to do with acid/alkaline foods) severe, life-long GERD vanished, along with many, many other health problems. The reality is that most Americans actually have too little hydrochloric acid in their stomach, imbalanced gut flora and the result is GERD (and lots of other health problems!) and then they are prescribed antacids. duh.

Anyway, I'm not the best at explaining what I know, I just know that I now have zero health issues and all I did was change what I eat, so do your own research and find what works for you. For me, not eating grains, legumes, processed foods, toxic additives, excess sugar, etc is what finally worked. Not "hard", not "restrictive" because feeling awesome rocks.

PS. Yes, fruit are healthy but they are also high in sugar and often people with metabolic issues (including messed up gut flora) need to limit them. Vegetables have the same nutrients, less sugar. I would agree that living on mostly "alkaline" food would not work for me. I need lots of nutrients, many of which come from animals. Like I said the "acid/alkaline" food theory is a fail for me.

We have heard humans complaining over having a burning sensation within side the chest or they are saying they've got acidity. Acidity is a totally not unusual situation, a few on a each day basis are having acidity. Young humans are complaining of acidity more. Therefore, it is important to cure acidity permanently.
    Eat healthily
    Change your napping posture
    Avoid tight-fitting garments
Take a small walk after consuming your meal.
