So the range for a healthy female is 18.5-24.9, but a lot of people say it's too low even before 18, or too high before 25. Your opinion? ![:) :)](https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/resources/emoji/smile.png)

I think you've just answered your own question! BMI is faulty. It is not a very good indicator of health, especially because of muscle mass, etc... that you mentioned. Too many people equate BMI with body fat %. Not the same thing.0

It's an individual thing. I think for some people who aren't overly muscly then BMI is a reasonable guide but I'm still in the "overweight" range but feeling and looking about the right size. I think!
I think BMI is a good tool to get a feel for where you fit in the population and as a rough guide as to a healthy weight/height ratio (though not if you have a high proportion of muscle!) but definitely not something to live or die by.0
