In January 2020 I went to the primary care physician for a checkup. I'd been extremely poor, and finally divorced my husband because I couldn't take the hoarding and abuse any more, moved an hour away to take care of my boyfriend (Polyamory) and after getting him off alcohol and dealing with a psychotic episode, we finally got him home and on the right meds to begin getting healthy, and it was time for me to get healthy too.
The doctor's scale said 296. That was the most I'd ever weighed, damn near 300 pounds which is exactly double what I ought to weigh, and I came home and said that I was going to start losing weight.
And then we had the pandemic. I had the response that the one thing I could control was what I put in my mouth. 2020 also included us moving to a new house, getting a new cat, and having a couple new mental health diagnoses, but the three of us (I now live with my boyfriend and my girlfriend) are happy. And I lost 50 pounds last year.
Having seen it work for me, my boyfriend and girlfriend are now counting calories and exercising too. He ate to cope with the PTSD, and is carrying forty pounds he doesn't want. She went to the doctor and found she weighed 415, and despite her orthopedic issues she is going to the gym and doing the exercises she was prescribed for rehab in the pool, and she's working hard to get on a sleep schedule and to eat under her calories. I look forward to a year in which we all can lose weight and become the people we want to live with for the rest of our lives.
Oh, and the boyfriend and I will make it legal sometime later this year after we and everyone we want to come to the wedding has been vaccinated.6 -

The general consensus is that we have one or more peevish serial disagree-ers. Don't pay any attention to them. Honestly, I don't know why there even exists a Disagree option outside of the Debate forum. I roll my eyes every time someone disagrees on any 'share your opinion/experience' thread. Makes no sense. 🙄

Also, on the phone, it is easy to hit the disagree without realizing it when you were just trying to scroll down. Basically, as long as disagrees aren't piling up, it is probably not worth thinking about.

I kept running. When I was originally sent to work from home (and foolishly thought at the time thought it would only be for a few weeks), I debated giving myself a break from my morning run and sleeping an hour later since I wouldn’t have my commute. Decided it was probably best to keep up my routine so I wouldn’t fall off track. So glad I did that! In the past year, I’ve doubled my daily mileage (thereby increasing my “bonus” calories available) and managed to finally lose 4 of the 8 pounds I had left before I hit my goal weight. Only 4 more lbs to go!4

Great stories. Im in my late 60s. Hip replacement surgery Jul/19 kept me sedentary. COVID quarantine hit our area Mar/20 so in July/20 I made my mind up that I was going “come out” of the quarantine, healthier than ever. Had a bit of a stall as I had cataract surgery Oct/20; both eyes, which allowed me to give up my glasses and but kept me sedentary. I still continued mindful eating and have a weight release, as of today 20#. I started a 90 Fitness Walking Program Feb/21 and haven’t looked back. My weight release has been stable for 3 months, I would like to release another 9# however, I’m feeling well, and that what counts. My cholesterol and triglycerides have decreased by 11%. My journey is about inside outside wellness. One can not buy health.4

Retired just as Covid was beginning. So no work lunches, no banquets, no travel, no events, and no excuses! Started doing Silver Sneakers workouts on Zoom, logging food, and lost 12 pounds. Bonus - A1C dropped to normal levels and was able to cut Metformin meds to once a day. Looking and feeling better.7

I started working out for real for the first time since college in March 2020 as a stress reliever since I wasn’t leaving the house. I quickly became addicted to the daily endorphins, added in diet in Feb of 2021 and here I am, a year and a half later, 55lbs down and in the best athletic shape I’ve been in since high school. 12lbs to goal!7

Plenty of people accidentally hit the buttons without even knowing it, and if like me, probably the disagree esp since I scroll with my right thumb and could easily hit it.2 -
Started in January 2020, decided to eat better for my health rather than just to lose weight - i was sick of being out of breath and lethargic! I incorporated C25K into it along with some yoga. Now i am down 50lb and still going Started in the obese category and i am SO close to a healthy BMI! No going back for me!1
