OH MY GOD. just finished level 1 day 1 about 30 seconds ago. that was so difficult!! especially those bicycle crunches. i was just waiting and waiting and waiting for her to say "TWO MORE!". sweating so much. good workout though. i'm going to have to do 30ds waaay earlier in the day tomorrow (it's 9:15pm now).

@twoody: i know what you mean about not doing it otherwise. i was seriously considering being lazy tonight but I couldn't let my ladies down!

    Here's to a better day 2!

Oh, ladies, I love you. It got to be about 8-ish pm EST and I thought "Well, I started this group, I guess I'm going to have to actually go through with it and do the d@mn workout." I seriously wouldn't have done it without this group. But now I feel like a warrior. Maybe that's silly but I didn't think I was going to make it and I did. I am not a fit person AT ALL (my level of exercise on MFP reads: very sedentary lifestyle) so to be able to wobble, gasp, sweat, melt, and shriek my way through that was a real feather in my cap. Here's to an even better day 2!

Weighed in this morning at 165.2. Still gaining. Part due to to stress and TOM. Funeral was today for father in law so I am hoping to get back on a semi schedule. I will be working out here in about an hour. Normally, I would do morning workouts but today was packed with family stuff. Evening it is...hope everyone had a great day!

That's really sad news. I'm sorry to hear it. I hope you and your family are doing okay.

Well Day 2 is done and dusted for me. To be honest, I was a little worried about my calves since I played an hour of badminton yesterday and they were really hurting. Seems like an overnight rest did them good though.

I did way more lunges (I'm always really paranoid about doing them wrong) and I joined back in with the bicycle crunches at the end (took a few seconds out to do regular crunches). I wouldn't say it's getting easier, but I would say I did a lot less of the easier modifications this time around.

    28 days to go!

I was 119.4 this morning :-) but 20 min later I took a big crap so who knows, lol!

Did my first day today, it was fun! besides a little discomfort in my knees from squatting it was ace. Got up a sweat and panting all the way through. I normally do squats on my toes but apparently this is incorrect form and did them with my heels down like in the video, and my left knee hurt quite a bit afterwards. My form is probably just bad.

Can't wait to see how level 1 is in 9 more days! Off to shower!

I took some bikini photos too. :) Challenge complete! this is also good because it's a bikini that requires big boobs to fit right, and mine are SUPER small - but I'm getting a boob job early next year because of a breast deformity. So it will be neat to see the difference in that too.

Eurgh. Right knee is hurting. It's only muscle pain but I wanted a moan and here is the place to do it.

Thanks everyone, we are doing pretty good. He had pancreatic cancer so we knew it was coming. We were blessed with 3 1/2 hrs after diagnosis. That is incredible.

Confessions: I fell asleep last night after my post and did not do the workout. I was so drained and slept 1/2 the night in the couch. I am a day behind. :(

I did do the workout this morning and took several breaks. Goal for day 10 NO BREAKS. worst move...squat thrusts. Yuck! Did them anyway did switch to my 3 lb from 5lb weights.

I got a 64oz water bottle and I am going to finish it every day.

Good job everyone! Ben and Jerry are my old flames too. Such cheaters! Lol

So I didn't do 30ds last night. 'Doctor' Philip said I wasn't allowed. Meaning my boyfriend told me until I get better I can't do it anymore...
I think this is cause I don't wanna take dayquil and nyquil....

Well, we should all listen to our bodies and if that means modifications, resting a day here and there, or staying at a particular level longer than 10 days, then that's okay. Our goal is to support each other mentally and emotionally through this and hopefully make each other laugh along the way. After all, if you push your body when it hurts or you are sick, it can actually be detrimental (sometimes hurt is good...or so Jillian says...but sometimes it can lead to injury.) So do what you can and stay with us. Kudos to those who've made it through Day 2! Tina, hope you're taking care of yourself and your family physically, mentally, and emotionally and way to go with the 64 oz water bottle! I need one! Hope everyone's aches and pains feel better soon and that we get back on track. For what it's worth, I am having major personal stresses in my life, TOM has arrived, and I feel a migraine creeping. I figure if everyone else is going to be honest, I'll be honest, too. That's one of our best tools here, is to be honest with each other. And Ros, if you ever need a place to complain, this is certainly it! We're here for you! Love you all. :flowerforyou:

I'm rewarding myself with a lie in tomorrow, I have set my alarm for 6.45! What a treat. SO, no work outs tomorrow morning for me. I shall do it in the evening before my tea.

Does anyone else work out in the morning and then find it makes you really, really hungry throughout the day?

Re: Pain. I think you have to know the difference between injury pain and muscle-getting-stronger pain. There's no use in hurting yourself, but as Jillian says, you have to push your body.

Oooh also, I've decided to find something that weighs the amount I've slot, just so I can see what I was lugging around before. That might be a fin thing to do at the end of the month.
  • Hey ladies, I'm logging on real quick to say that I'm running a fever of 101 and can barely move. I've been sleeping for about 4 hours and my fever still hasn't come down. Can't do the shred today, and I'm so upset. I pray I'm better tomorrow because I finally felt the encouragement and strength to push myself to the finish, and now I have to miss today.

Congrats to all those on day 2 and my we all continue on tomorrow.

Rosalind-- I tend to eat better throughout the day when I work out in the a.m. I don't want to waste what just did. Plus knowing it is done and out of the way is very comforting.
Michelle-- doing this challenge for me is taking care of all of us. I truly feel better when I eat right and exercise. I am just lazy and don't like too. ( spoiled brat coming out)
Sounds like several of us are sick, just a reminder to take vitamins and drink lots of water.

Just finished Day 2. Literally sweat dripping down my face. That's never happened to me before! But I am so proud of myself! All I wanted to do was either eat or take a nap (or both haha), but instead I popped in 30DS. I hope you all had a great day!

I haven't decided if I'm gonna do it again tonight.
Still sick and Tom showed up. Seems like everything is against me.
HOWEVER, I set up a challenge for myself. I'm swearing off bread for a week. :)

Everyone in this group is so awesome! We obviously all have the love for the 30DS in common what else? Where are you from (if you want) and what are your favourite hobbies?

I am from a small town in British Columbia Canada nestled in the mountains. My favourite activities are crafts, planning events with my friends, and curling (super competitive curling)

I'm from a small town in Tennessee, but I'm living in Alabama for college. I'm currently going for a nursing degree, but thinking about switching to Biology to be able to become a Medical Examiner.

I love reading and writing, video games, Glee, and pretty much anything that someone my age likes. I love to dance, mostly to techno/electronica. I'm a freak over anything Harry Potter. And I'm in love and bound and determined to marry several famous actors, namely Johnny Depp, Robert Downey Jr, Rupert Grint, and a few others. :)

Wellington, NZ :) Next year I am moving to Vancouver with my boyfriend to attend art school, and he is going to VFS to study game design. I love drawing (obviously) and reptiles!! Oh my gosh working at a reptile & exotic pet store would be my dream job. I can't wait to move to Vancouver where it's legal to own ball pythons. :-)

I'm doing my day 2 after dinner, then going for a long-*kitten* 2 hr walk while my sister has her dance class, which I'm dropping her off for. I ordered some new protein powder 2 days ago and I'm bummed it hasn't come yet, I want a shake :(

"Excellent, ladies. you've just finished level one of the shred-"

PRAISE THE LAWD. Lol. I found it was a tiny bit easier today, except some discomfort doing lunges etc when my legs were already sore. Definitely not as sore as the first time I tried the shred though!

    Time to shower :)

Hey everyone!! I haven't replied in what seems forever. I'm usually not able to use the computer until super late (it's 2:30 am here). But, things have been going great!! I LOVE sore muscles...I'm crazy, I know. The last time I did the shred, I did a different level everyday to keep my muscles guessing. I think I'm going to start doing that this time. I'm still a little worried about my ankle, but I'm hoping it holds up. I've always had weak ankles :(. And I'm from a small town outside of Columbus, Ohio. I'm a single mom, my daughter is 2. My hobbies are decorating, party planning, and making cake pops :). It really sucks counting calories when I'm making cake pops...they're soooo good!!!

My little sister loves baking so we got her a cake pop recipe book... they are delicious!! Oh my goodness. Her baking is the bane of my existence haha.
  • Hey, everyone. Still running a fever, so I stayed home from work today. I'm a teacher and I missed yesterday to go on a field trip with my club, so that's two days in a row I'm missing with my students. I hate missing school.

Though my fever is finally down to 99.5 and not over 101, I'm still not sure I'll be up to shredding tonight. My head is still pounding something fierce. So aggravating! I hate being sick!

By the way, I'm from right outside New Orleans, LA. I love to scrapbook, read, teach my kiddies (9th graders), run, and just hang out with my husband.

    Feel better Cristina!

I was very close to sacking off today. I feel like I'm coming down with a cold and I played some tough badminton this lunch time. But then I had a word with myself and kicked my own *kitten* a bit, and now I'm ready. Shredding whilst my food cooks and rewarding myself with a beer afterwards.

    Day 3, here I come!

Hello ladies! Well, I am originally from Cincinnati, Ohio and will always be a Midwestern gal at heart but I've lived in Western Massachusetts for, gosh, 15 years now? I have my Bachelor's Degree in English with a Minor in Psychology and I am certified to teach preschool by the Department of Early Education and Care. I teach preschool now, working with ages 2-5 in the mornings and early afternoons, and ages 5-9 in the late afternoons after the area elementary schools let out. I love reading, writing, acting, singing, karaoke, cooking, dancing, and kids. I hope to someday be a Child Life Specialist which is sort of like a teacher/therapist that works with kids in hospitals who are terminally ill or having operations. I also seem to have a knack for autistic kids, so there might be something there, too. Or forensic psychology. I should have figured this out by now. I have a cat named OZ (after the HBO prison-drama series that I LOVE). I'm also a die-hard fan of How I Met Your Mother, Sex and The City, James Taylor, The Beatles, and most Top 40 music. I have a fantastic boyfriend whom I will celebrated 5 fantastic years with in January and he is a veterinary technician.

In other news, I did not sleep AT ALL last night. Not even a wink. Not oh, I'm tossing and turning and dosing a little here and there-no. So finally, at 5:00 am, what do I do? I lace up my sneaks and head to the gym. I WAS AT THE GYM AT 5:30 IN THE MORNING. My mom asked me later if she dreamed it. I walked/jogged 1.16 miles and was feelin' aces. Rookies mistakes I made (don't make them): eat before you work out and do not forget your water bottle. I was nauseous as all heck when I got home. So I meandered down to Stop and Shop (our local supermarket) and snagged myself a sweet 64 oz green and blue water bottle, BPA-free, with a straw, shatter-resistant, and with a cooling cylinder that you freeze and then attach to the inside of the lid to keep your h20 cold. 8 bucks. It's just easier for me, knowing my 64 oz are all in one place, especially since I'm constantly on-the-go as a preschool teacher.

Several NSV's: Stopped off at my doctor's for some paperwork and she about threw a party for me in the waiting room. "Look how much weight you've lost! You look fabulous!" And I said "I DO look fabulous!" She scooped me up into a big hug. I turned back to the secretary at the desk and she said "You really do look wonderful." Then, at my acupuncturist's, he said "You know, I've been talking with Susie (the other acupuncturist), and we both have been noticing how much brighter and healthier you've been looking recently." Fabulous, wonderful, brighter, and healthier? I'll take it! P.S. I recommend acupuncture to anyone for anything: I do it for migraines, anxiety, insomnia, and gastrointestinal issues and that plus the Chinese herbs he's been giving me as a tea have been phenomenal!

Lastly, I hope everyone who's not feeling well is feeling better or feeling better soon. As for me, TOM came knocking with makes those ab exercises a killer, but oh well. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate, especially those of you with colds, and for those of you with muscle aches, try heat and stretching. Even massaging a cooling lotion onto my calves sometimes helps. Happy Shredding!

Day 3, done. I seem to be amazed everytime I finish that workout haha! Did i mention that i REALLY hate pushups?

Anyways, I live in Santa Cruz, CA for college. I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, though. I love school, going to concerts, reading, learning to cook and hanging out. I'm in school for Philosophy (we'll see how that works out!). Today, I got up and went to the school gym, which I think is an NSV because I view the 30DS as my daily workout. So I pushed myself to do TWO workouts today. And then I walked around campus (which is BEAUTIFUL!). Tonight I'm hoping to go to sleep early since I have orientation at 8am!!

I hope you ladies had a great day! And for all you sickies, feel better! Nothing quite like chicken soup and curling up with a movie :)

I'm actually looking forward to my day 3! My delicious whey protein came in the mail and I passed a big fat school assessment so I'm in high spirits :-) I highly recommend Optimal Nutrition's 100% whey in extreme milk chocolate, it's the first protein powder I've tried that isn't acidic and gross.

Hm, what was the challenge again today? Water?

    Hey Michelle, great NSVs!

Day 4 is down! I think I'm going to start mixing it up with a level 2 here and there after Day 5 I think.
